Does Root Rot just rinse off/ I think Clay Pebble Dust

From other posts I made in the last few weeks I think I had root rot.....I just checked two new rez's and both sets had brown roots. I immediately rinsed the roots off and I think its clay pebbles dust (I rinse pebbles off as good as possible), but am not sure. Can clay pebble dust effect roots in hydro (DWC) ?? Also if this was root rot on the roots would the root rot just rinse off???

No root rot wouldn’t just rinse off. It’s most likely your clay dust. You need to wash them really well and you will still get some little particles for a little bit but nothing that will harm anything. If there is any left after the rinse it normally fall to the bottom of the res. They can be a real pain in the arse to get cleaned. I take a bucket and drill small holes lots of them then rinse repeatedly and still have little dirty res water for first couple days.

What is your water temperature?
Once root rot takes hold changing rez does nothing if you don’t kill the bacteria
Are you using pool shock? Did you dip roots in a h2o2 solution?
I hate hydroton but not because it causes root rot
