Does anyone use silica desiccant packets to keep their salts dry?

I think it would be a good idea to use the food safe desiccant packets in order to keep salts dry (for those of us that use salts). A lot of the time dry salts absorb the humidity in the air and it can throw off the weights when mixing which causes inconsistent ratios and feedings. I heard that’s a big issue with Athena and I also have a bag of epsom salt that is clumpy due to this.

does anyone use these packets with their salts?

I have a small rectangular desiccant pack from amazon in both of the 5 gallon buckets I store my bulk nutrients in, seems like a good idea.

It does seem like a good idea that would be really helpful. I just don’t see too many people talk about it or do it. And I don’t see any nutrient manufacturers shipping their bags or boxes with desiccant packs in them which I find weird also.

I run mega crop as long as I seal the bag after using no problem with clumping but it shouldnt hurt to toss a pac in there.

Yep, I buy the 25 lb bags of salts and throw a handful of dessicant packs in each of them and just take about a quart ziploc of each out at a time also with dessicants. You have to keep your salts nice and dry if you want to rely on dosing them by weight-like if you get tired of checking EC every feed. Calnit really seems to like to suck up moisture.

I keep my 25lb bags in 5 gallon buckets with Gamma Lids and from there mix 1 gallon stock solutions that last me a month or two, so I only need to expose my salts roughly once every other month.
