Does anyone use Generators?

Was just wondering if any one that was drawing over 3k watts has considered or is using electrical generators to offset electrical costs, and/or conceal electrical consumption?

yeah i have a close frien who has 1 generator for every set amount of power he draws... i still talk to him in person so obviously hes doing something right.. nd hes been at it for 20+ years

worm5376 is wrong, you dont use less power you use the same amount, true your amp draw is half but your voltage is double so its the same to your bill, but yeah generators kick ass, i dont use one because i have neighbors but if you could use one you could run it on propane and use the exhaust for co2 with all proper precautions of course

I use a gas generator to power my night light in my bedroom. I sleep like a baby, too

Oh yeah I forgot about propane generators! I was thinking about a soundproof room too. Hey Chronik, think you could give me some more info, like how many gens he uses for how much power, and more importantly, what kind of generator does he use, I was thinking along the lines of a Honda, they are small, quiet, and reliable. dude, if your only pulling 3K watts i wouldnt worry about needing to conceal your power consumption. thats really not that much power.

Thats good to know, but I guess what I was getting at was anything over 3k, so lets say a total of 6k watts, the first 3 I'd use normal house elec. and anything after that I would use a generator. I'm just going off of what I heard, that you can use 1 1kwatt light per bedroom of the house, so a 3bdr. house can safely use 3k, without raising any ears, so to speak. Unless I'm just being paranoid, stealth is always factor number one, I just dont want any red flags going up! Is anyone else using 5-6k watts, just off of their regular house current?

6K on 12/12? or is it split between veg and flower rooms? ive know guys to run 700+ a month bills for years without trouble.

The 6kwatts would be on 12/12, I'd use flouro's for the clone/veg, that could be done on house elec. easily, I'm just worried about pulling down the big watts! 700+? 700 what, watts, dollars per month?

I can believe using a generator would be cost effective. I use a generator when my power goes out. It uses about a gallon an hour. I know someone who uses solar plates to help with the cost of electirity

$700 dollars per month. he said he only heard from the elec co once, when he unplugged all the lights and moved all the shit out they came by a month later to see if there were problems with the service. he paid his bill on time every month, they said he was a valued customer. the power company just wants thier money, its bad business to turn in your best clients.

In the state I am in as long as u pay ur bill on time u are safe! I was told that if it reaches 800.00a month all of asudden they will look into it but not call the cops! I have been looking into solar but I will do it to run the whole house, but it cost almost 50,000 for the system I was looking at..

My buddy is using A generator for his grow and the LP for it is alot morethan what his electrical bill would be! Really look into what u want to do!

yeah, it will almost surely be more expensive to run a gen than regular power. a single 1000w light will cost anywhere between $20 - 70 a month depending on what you pay a Kwh. i bet you spend that a week on fuel for a genny.

The gen is just more labor intensive. Not A bad idea thou, but I would still stick with regular power

I run 6k and my bill last month was $1,800. yeah, thats right eighteen hundred last month, my Kwh here is ridiculous where i live, when i wasnt even running my lights and my bill was over $500. SO i think its where you live and what your KWH is in your city.

I pay 5.75 cents per kwh.

This trick my father taught me. For 3 years now hes had his electric bypassed under the ground by the meter. We did the inside work first, installing a new breaker box and transfering the circuits over to the new box. Things that were moved to the free box were washer, dryer, HVAC, dishwasher and welder. We revealed the underground cable just with hand shovels and proceeded to splice into it. It wasn't very deep, about 3 1/2 ft.*This is very dangerous* Using a utility knife and gloves the sheath was removed. Using a large masonry bit we punched through the block wall and used spare heavy guage wire to connect it from the splice, not romex. We used clamps to connect and secure the leech line. Slapped it with rubber cement (we didnt have any di-electric) and wrapped it in electrical tape. To finish it all off we filled the hole and made it look like a lawn care endevor. Finished outside it looks like a new garden bed with seasonal flowers and a fern. This wasn't done for growing, my father is just a cheap DIY kinda guy.

His power bill is now around 40-45 dollars when it averaged 110 befor.

I wouldn't recomend trying this unless you know you won't kill yourself in the process. And you know...its illigal.
