Well, I did a high school exchange in Tokyo and I've been learning through self study and pen pals since I was 10 years old.

i took french for three years of high school... I was hella good, maybe not the advanced conjugations, but the words stuck with me, I was like a little french dictionary. However, my senior year i didnt take it, and most of it was lost. I cannot speak it for shit, nor write it, but I can pretty much read it still.
