yea man are u talkin about the difference in weight between 1lb of air dried/cured and 1lb of water cured?

He said he's got one pound of 'air dried and cured weed', ie it's already been dried once. When you water cure the dried bud, you're putting it into water, ie you're making it wet, so when you finish the water cure after 7 days the bud has to be dried again, so twice.

This guy wants to cure his bud twice! Nice idea, let us know how it smokes if you go for it!

Well then surely, the dried weight of the bud will stay the same. Maybe he should have asked a question about potency. As the dried weight of bud cannot get any lighter unless you smoke it, doesn't matter how many times you wet it and dry it it will always weigh the same.

I know that when scientists (responsible for analysing cannabis) test the dry weight of cannabis they simply stick it in the oven.

So my answer would be that the dry weight of the water cure will be the same as the dry weight from the air cure.

Not so skunk.The water cure will rinse out impurities in the bud making it lighter when dried but water cure is for impatient people who dont care about the nice aroma and scents as it stinks like hay when done but smokes smoother

I water cured and it shrinks big time no smell no taste but you do have more thc in a smaller space. More potent. 2 joints in a 1 joint space. I think baby gro numbers my be high but like you said nobody can tell till you do it. I didn't weigh mine but to me it looked like it shrunk by close to 50% . This was a male plant and I was just expermenting. I'll never do a male plant again. But I will water cure again. Why well when I go on trips I can burn one a little more privately.

Hmmm. Ok.

I've never water cured before (just don't like the sound of it). So on a normal cure, after proper destalking etc you end up with a 5th to a Q of the wet weight. Then when the bud is ready to be smoked you decide to rewet it then cure it again to end up with less weight but more potent bud. Yet at the same time losing the taste and aroma (as these two are heavily interlinked).

How do you add the water to the bud? Freeze it, maybe? Or do you just give it a good ol' soak?

I put mine in a plastic trash can.

Cover it with water and used a plate to hold the weed under the water.

Every day for 7 days change the water.

Day 8 let it dry out slowly or naturaly no heat

I think I got the instructions in the FAQ

Fuck that. So after all that you still gotta air dry it? That could take a couple of weeks especially with all that water.

So, how is it quicker than a normal air cure?

It dries in one day of the water I let a small fan blow over mine
total start to smoke 9 days max

You don't get more THC.

The THC levels remain exactly the same as they were when the bud was air dried and cured. I know this is a bit 'nitpicky' but this is exactly how misinformation spreads and gathers momentum. The THC levels remain exactly the same as they were before.

What you're referring to, is that whilst the THC levels in terms of quantity remain exactly the same, the actual density of the bud in terms of volume actually reduces due to more impurities and chlorophyll being removed from the bud volume thus reducing down it's dried weight, when compared to air dried bud.

So if you were to smoke a gram of air dried bud, and then water cure a gram of air dried bud and smoked it, the THC levels of both will be exactly the same, thus the water cured bud DOES NOT increase in potency. However, if you were to air dry two lots of 6 ozs of bud and water cure one lot of 6 ozs and then smoke a gram of the air dried and a gram of the water cured the water cured bud would be more potent due to the reduction in volume thus you're actually getting slightly more THC by volume although the THC levels would have remained exactly the same.

Interesting you think my figures are high but don't know the answer yourself. The problem with working it out is that you don't know what the start weight was - only the dry weight. Typically bud will lose about 75% of it's weight in air drying and water cured bud about 85% but the difference isn't 10%.

Taking a hypothetical example, say we start out with 500g of wet bud, air dried that would be approximately 500g x 75% = 375-500 = 125g. Applying the same to the water cured would be 500g x 85% = 425-500 = 75g. 75g/125g = 0.6. So applying that to our known weight of 1lb, would be 16 ozs x 28 = 448g x 60% = 268.8/28 = 9.6ozs.

Hence my answer between 9-10 ozs.

He's not starting out with 5lb of bud though (unless you're referring to the cut wet weight) he's starting out with 1lb of air dried bud and getting something like 9-10 ozs after water curing.

Very few people know I get high. Some times I'm stuck on long family gathering. So I go for a ride and burn one. Have to stay gone long time exposing myself to getting busted. Then when I get back I get these looks whats that smell. Nobody says anything but you get those looks. With water cure it don't smell like that.

The next time I water cure I'll do a journal with pictures.

For me it's piece of mind. For me if being real paranoid ruins the high. I don't mind being around people high I just don't want them to know I'm high.

I love my family and I love to get high.
