doctor office for patients... in and out 20min.

http://www.health.ri.gov/publications/guides/MinimumStandardsForAuthorizingMedicalMarijuana.pdf

You DON"T have a required every 6 month visit by law. However the DOH "minimum standards' which is not part of the regulations but an addendum if you will on the website lists a recommended 'semi annual' visit. So if the card is good for 2 years that means at the end of the first year.
Read this preamble by HEALTH. . . it is not part of the original regulations but it is something that HEALTH has thrown out there after the laws were passed.
Every six months is ridiculous and overkill and a way to make money off the patients. Once your card is signed it is up to you to go back for follow up. . . they're not going to chase you down. It's just another way for people to make money off the backs of people with chronic illness.

Can someone pm me with a doctor please.. I had an appt with one but never received a call back. I went through the trouble of faxing all my recent medical records to them which ended up being a real hassle. Thank

I'm in RI by the way. I have a lot of medical issues which I get treatment and meds for but my liver is being destroyed by them. I can not take narcotic pain meds because of an allergy and have been having to take large amounts of 800mg ibuprofen everyday to try and stop my chronic pain. I also am on meds for anxiety, insomnia, ADD and all of these could be treated with medicinal cannabis use( I was given a bit by a family member and I helped tremendously). So if anyone has a doctor who would be recommended please PM me or reply so I can talk to you ASAP. Thank you

Thanks Ricky! I looked it up and I have all my medical information and medication documentation in a nice neat folder.. I got my primary care who is is RI to write I referral letter saying I could benefit from medical marijuana. So I have all of that..

I was planning on making the drive up there this Tuesday afternoon. I live right on the mass ri border literally but it will still be decent drive. Do you know anything new about them? I'm getting worried I won't get there in time and the place will be gone. Lol if they still have the discount and anyone wants to go Tuesday let me know.

On the Canna Care site it says one year of service. You have to renew your mmj card annually?? and pay 200 everytime?

no, don't believe the hype, lol, your evaluation is good for 2 yrs unless the DOH asks you for another evaluation which I've never seen them do. Even when Pancholi was running the racket, your evaluation from him, even tho he was on the run and license was revoked,...was still valid thru it's expiration. I know, I had one. Just got renewed with my new hollistic Dr (not taking new patients unfortunately, he's a real believer)

I am new to the whole system but assuming I was approved by the doctor at canna for a medical marijuana card in RI, how long is the process from the day of my doctor appt till the day I would receive my card? I did print out the RI medical marijuana application from a site online. Would this be something I need to bring with me along with my other medical info and primary care referral which I also have?

ATTENTION ALL PATIENTS AND FUTURE PATIENTS LOOKING FOR THEIR MEDICAL MARIJUANA RECOMMENDATION APPROVAL FOR THE TREATMENT OF MEDICAL CANNABIS. . .

There is a lot of miscommunication in regards to our new medical clinic. Canna Care Docs is a Walk-In Clinic for patients looking to treat their qualified condition with medical cannabis. Patients will be prompted to sign-in, fill out medical history forms and will then be reviewed quickly before seeing the doctor.

MEDICAL RECORDS FOR MASSACHUSETTS PATIENTS IS NOT REQUIRED BUT GREATLY ENCOURAGED! (RHODE ISLAND PATIENTS MAY NEED TO PROVIDE MEDICAL RECORDS IF YOU ARE BEING PRESCRIBED MEDICATION FOR THE CONDITION YOU ARE APPLYING FOR TODAY. In that case RI patients would need to provide medical history for the past 12 months if taking meds for the same condition) . . .

Patients must then provide Massachusetts ID or Rhode Island ID (proof of residency), and will be evaluated by a licensed doctor for a fee of $200. ($180 for VETERANS!!) If approved, Massachusetts patients will receive a licensed certificate before leaving the office, which will allow you to treat your condition with medical cannabis. (Rhode Island patients are asked to immediately send in their paperwork to the DPH of RI and from there will issue you your card.) If you are denied, you will be refunded $150 ($50 taken out for the doctor's time) . . .

Rhode Island DOH requires all RI Patients to a follow-up appointment every 6 months, to make sure your medical history is still as stands, and you are being properly treated.

Our HOURS OF OPERATION are currently not locked in place due to doctor's schedules, etc. FOR NOW, our hours are MA PATIENTS = MON-TUES 10-7 and THURS 2-6. RHODE ISLAND PATIENTS = Tues 2-6 and Thurs 2-6.. We greatly encourage all patients to call our office before coming in, to check up on wait-times, qualifying conditions, and any other questions/concerns you may have for us.

LBH is correct. .THey can't 'make you come back every six months'. That is ridiculous and virtually untrackable. As it is every other year (on the odd year) the DOH in RI reviews the records for recent arrests etc. Who is going to track this every six month visit? This is another wish list by DOH to make it more difficult and cumbersome for the patient. THe regs of RHODE ISLAND recommends semi annual followup. The card is good for two years so what does semi annual mean? It is also NOT in the regs. . it is in a preamble the DOH came up with in September 2011 without any public comment. It is not in the laws or the regs. This whole MMJ with RI is sloppy at best as far as the DOH goes.

And here's what everyone must remember. . the preamble which speak about the keeping of records and the semi annual visit (see above attachement) is not designed for the patient or the caregiver. It creates a giant loophole that can be used against anyone at a later date. They can be used at any time for the practitioner (or against the practitioner) at the state's discretion even though they are not offical regs or laws. Prior to Sept. 2011 there was not a minimum standard and it suddenly appeared on Health's website-not even attached to any regs.

I went there today and I got there at 2pm and everyone there was really nice.. It seemed like half the people in there didn't need to be if you know what I mean lol. It was a little silly looking at some of them! Like OMG are these people for real... But whatever, it none of my business.

Anyway I filled out some forms and waited for the RI doctor to get in. Another man took everyone's vitals while waiting and answered questions. When I was next to be seen the young kid who was prob in his early 20's came out of the doctors office all flustered because she wouldn't write him a recommendation! He said he drove 3 hours to come there, like that was going to make a difference. So it isn't a guarantee that you will get a card here.. I saw the doctor for about 10 minutes and she was nice and understanding. I ended up getting my recommendation and now I am just waiting on the RI DOC to send me my card. Thanks all for your help!!!

I personally had a lot of my medical information and records on me plus my primary care wrote me a referral. The only thing I showed the doctor was the referral letter, but I did offer to show her all my records. No one else in there had any documents or folders with them so I think they are a little more strict with RI patients from what I heard. The doctor did question me fairly thoroughly and examined me briefly.
