Do you think they are ready to harvest?

Hey you all -

My friend was wondering if her six Mazar plants are ready to harvest. They are currently on day 54 flowering. On one plant, most of the hairs (85%) on the cola are red, the others have less. She doesn't have a microscope so can't check the trichomes. She started flushing three days ago. I am assuming they need at least another week... what do you guys think?

I agree, between 7 and 10 more days your going to be ripe.

thanks you guys -
also, the bottom buds are much less developed than the majority of the top ones... is this okay? I know that if I chop the top, the plant will be too stressed and won't live, but I don't feel like those ones on the bottom will do much for me... is this usual? I feel bad wasting those little undeveloped friends... it's my first grow so I am not sure exactly what I am doing...

The bottom will always be less developed because of light less light less developed. If you wanted to chop lots of the top and leave the bottom the plant will not just die. Most people will just take the popcorn buds and make hash or bake with it so its up to you but yes this is normal.

If you want the bottom to be equally as developed as the top you can always SCROG!!!

In the first pic are the biggest fan leaves I've ever seen!! (look towards the left) I'm finally growing some sativa, i wonder if they'll get that big

Why does everyone contradict themselves? First they are your "friends" plants, then in a later post you say it's "your" first grow?

Here are some more pictures of how they were doing a few days ago. I am thinking about chopping them in a few more days. They are definitely plumping up and I am getting excited. (Oh, and so is "my friend" by the way)

anyone have a guess as to how much I will yield? It's 6 plants in a hydro setup in a 3x3 tent with a 400w HPS...

You will yield a very nice amount, trust me. Lookin nice. I would do the flush thing. Then chop the tops, and let the bottom go longer. It will space your bud for you longer also. :blsmoke:

Damn, your hydro system does wonders. I'm surprised to see that a 400watt HPS can have that kind of a yield, however I'm not experienced with 400watts. Looks like an awesome job.

Is cutting the tops and letting the bottoms grow longer, really a good idea? I feel like most growers don't bother for various reasons, though I could be wrong. I thought popcorn/rabbit-poop nugs were an accepted part of the harvest

yeah, I am pretty excited about how everything worked out... it was my first grow and I made the hydro system myself so I figured it wouldn't end up as well as it has.

Does anyone else have any advice about the idea of cutting the tops and letting the lower buds mature more? I had never heard of anyone doing this before... It would be tricky for me because I was planning on using the tent for drying for a few days and this would depend on having harvested everything at once... but if it would actually work, maybe I could figure something else out...

dont even bro... keep em sog style and dont top.. i believe its too late for it anyways. they look fuckin bomb... sell the bottom buds to the 16 year old kids on the block and blow their mind.... then show em ur quarter pound cola and put them in shock.

i always find it funny that people want everyone else to check their trichs over pictures on the internet, when a trip to radio shack to get a $10 microscope is all they need
