I live in california. I'm going to be a door person at a club. my verification of my guard card is not available yet. Can I check ID's and membership verification at the door before then? The club opens in about another week and a half. It's going to be 3 more weeks before I can verify.

well,

normally you have to be a 'certified alcohol server' to be a door guy.

if you passed the lil test, or took the course or whatever, then you should've been given a 'provisional' card to show your employer... in my state you can do it online, and I printed out my provisional paper...

it's like that paper you're given at the DMV, until you're license comes in the mail...

there shouldn't be a problem with you being able to work....

uHUMbullshitcCHOO!!!

I've run club security in California and yes, you do, technically, need a guard card. And I would HIGHLY suggest having it at the club opening as I'm sure the cops will be all over the place.

If you work in a city I would suggest going (this may be hard to handle. please sit down) to the police department. It's either be friendly with cops kiss-assand play along, or be friendly with gangsters and play their games:twisted::twisted::twisted:.

Have you done your live scan? If yes, bring a copy of this to the police department with you. Ask to talk to a sgt. or someone in charge of the clubs area in the city. Explain to him that you are the head of security and your guard card situation.

Or, if you have a felony and are afraid of getting caught, i would caution you. If you put your hands on someone in the club, and the cop runs your name (which they are likely to do the first chance they get), you're well and truly fucked; and so is your boss.

***BTW: as a nightclub bouncer you're going to need to operate "between the law". Cops know this. They will let you dance that line as long as you are up front and play ball with 'em. I know it sounds hard to do, but trust me: it's better them than the Mexican mafia.

Sorry not bullshitchooo

Back when i was in the military i use to moonlight a the TL as a security guard. Only 1 person needs to be bonded and live scanned, and have a guard card everybody else can walk up off the street. And I did have to go to court a few times and it wasnt a problemnot having a guard card now if it was because I was a military leo I dont know.

Now the question is do i NEED a guard card to check Id's the answer is NO you dont need one. But its nice to have. You are right technically you need a guard card but everyone doesnt need to have it. In diego its as simple as writing a letter to the precint the club is in with the operating manager saying you will be providing security.

To put it in context a bail bondsman can hire felons to be a bounty hunter. There is no rules as to who can do it as long as the bail bondsman says your working for him because he is responsible for you actions and he is bonded

The law states that any buisness can reserve the right to refuse service to any one, if a persons wants to even enter the store owners property they have to agree to the shop owners demands other wise their service is refused. The card you are speaking of sounds to me like a form of credentials saying you have been trained professionaly. If your employer wants to see your credentials maybe you could inform him that you have them that your credentials are on the way, maybe mention a few dates.
