Well, I don't have any of those but I do feel free to talk about my views on philosophy and sexuality. I don't want to speak for others, but I've seen the likes of Underthiece, Karrion, Dashcues, mudminer (or is it stowngrow, I get my monkeys mixed up) Shannon Alexander, and even yourself seem comfortable and effective speaking on spirituality. As long as there beliefs are not presented as fact, I rarely see them getting hassled...

I tend not to have much trouble. Although I have noticed a recent infestation by trolls who seem to be patterned on the deer fly. Around those, I get a bit taciturn, and the constant buzzing harshes the canoe ride. cn

...that's totally fair. Seems like it can get a little intense in here. I'm sure there are a few who dare not tread the waters

Unfortunately, I am. It seems that any talk of beliefs that arent atheist or agnostic get harassed and stoned by the villagers.

That is demonstrably incorrect. Talk of beliefs is tolerated until it steps over into the arrogance of instruction. You really need to rescue yourself from your belief that you're a victim. cn

No, because ive taken the time to listen and consider what everyone has to say. Obviously it didnt change anything so any further attempts on their part to "convert" me is harassment.

I've always felt comortable. I stated my beliefs when I was spiritual and I still state my beliefs. There's nothing wrong with that. There will be negative people every now and then. But for the most part, the people I've encountered held back the insults.

Shame is the appropriate return on your intellectual investment. There is nothing special about this forum, there is something special about you. You are a religious bigot, and now you seek to inflame other spiritual people to incite support.

You are the bigot.

Bigotry is the state of mind of a "bigot", a person obstinately or intolerantly devoted to his or her own opinions and prejudices, especially one who exhibits intolerance or animosity toward members of a group.[SUP][1][/SUP] Bigotry may be based on real or perceived characteristics, including sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, race, ethnicity, nationality, region, language, religious or spiritual belief, personal habits, political alignment, age, economic status or disability.

I am speaking of you, when you present Biblical cant as fact. That is equal and opposite harassment. You've forfeited the moral high ground. cncn

I clearly presented the bible as something to be taken metaphorically several times. I have also clearly stated that some things in it require faith to believe. I never said that everything in the bible is fact.

I am not prejudging you. I am judging you based on your words and conduct. You are part of no group. You have a problem with any ideology which contradicts yours, which since your intellect blows in the wind, is every group out there. I am being very specific in my criticism and citing examples. You do not seem to be able to read and comprehend the definition of terms and concepts, or else you are being purposely self serving and insincere, common qualities of a bigot.

And then you turn around and present some of the most outrageous Biblical eisegesis as fact. I'm not even renting that one, Kaendar. cn

But you did not answer the question of how we know which is literal and which is metaphor. Unless you can list this criteria, your are only demonstrating your willingness to use an easy out.

Like certain historical events? There is plenty of proof that many of the events in the bible actually took place. Ask an archaeologist.

That's not true. Most of the archeologist findings are compared to places in the bibles references but none of them have been 'proven'. And even if they were, so what? Someone wrote a story about a place and added a lil' flavor? O M G . . . . it's a miracle!!
