Ive never met a pot smarter than me. how heavey are they? do they feey light they are dry do they feel heavey they are wet. poke your finger in does it feel wet.

I don't like the idea of smart pots seems they would dry out unevenly, but I am old school I use nursery pots or grow bags

heres what you do.. Lift up your pot and if it feels really light that means it needs to be watered. Take a mental not next time you water and lift up your pot to see how heavy it feels after you water..then you will be able to feel the difference and know if your plant is getting thirsty!

Ahh the "two knuckle rule" so thats what they call it these days..
I always refered to it as poking your finger into the soil to see if it is wet. A rule.....no once your soil is full of roots you can no longer poke unles you stretched the shit out f you plan and burried a rootles stem

AHAHAHA, you know what I mean...no need to be particular....of course later in the plants life you will only have the weight to rely on, but at first, you can use a finger, yes.

yea hopfully by then you have a feel for how heavy a wet pot is vs a dry one or i guess you could keep a pokin hole bored into the soil, after the soil settles from watering and the roots fill in the soil gets supprisingly firm.

I also have a smart pot and have two cayenne peppers in it. I have nothing but coco in it so it dries out even faster. I do the weight test. Although for me if I were to water everyday it wouldn't hurt it because the coco is so forgiving so I don't think this relates to you.

I'd say just lift it and if it feels light water it. Like everyone else is saying.

I say fuck the weighing and the finger dipping. I use 5gal Smart Pots and I water with one gal every 4 days and it's been working quite well for me for the past 4 grows.
