I was going to add this big 4 foot fixture to my developing sog grow, would it benifit at all in the flowering stage??

Add it to what? Any lumens extra you get I can only assume would be beneficial.
-to my grow box that im designing, yeach that was my fist reaction, the more the marrier but arent they more in the blue spectrum?? At least i here that there better for seedlings which to me means higher in the blue. my fear is that it would only influence my plant to grow bigger and have no benifit to buds wich wont work for my small space, i dont need to influence any veg growth that i dont need to which is why im doing sog, well debating on sog vs scog but i mean some would be ok but i only have less than 3 feet to work with.

I use 2 shop style fluros in my room all the time mixed with a 400watt dual spectrum hps and i reckon they love to have both spectrum's and it is a definite benefit imo:blsmoke:

You could use it in 2 different ways...

Run it over a seperate grow area for new seedlings/more clones

or

Add it to the flowering area as extra light. Maybe on the side to help the lower buds?

Both are good spots, but please, don't sit it in the corner, off.

They do help for sure....I run dual 36 inch T8 fixtures... 1 3000K and 1 6500K bulb in each fixture providing side lighting....adds 4000 lumens each fixture on the side....using 70 watt HPS on top...plants love this combo.

I read somewhere that adding blue light will make the buds more dense. I dont remember where I read it though.

how big do your plants generally grow because i only have 3 feet of space, less considering the pot and lamp, more like 2-2.5 by growing with the sog method

Funny you should ask..the 2 I have finishing (sativa dominate) are 48 and 36 inches...I did nothing on these 2 to restrict height...I have bent 48 incher slightly as Im out of vertical space....total space is 2.5w x 2d x 5h...I have some new babes that are 3 weeks old and just went into 12/12 and I plan on restricting via LST/SOG/SCROG but tried that once and not got it down yet....see what happens now I have HPS...I know its not big watts but its already kickin these 2 into overdrive compared to CFLs...buds fillin in not as airy.

Mr I Can Do That For Half
The shop lights are good for young plants or side light in the main grow you can buy either red blue or white spectrum bulbs and use the correct one for each stage. Figure a plant from seed will be like 8 inches min when ready for flower then they will at least double probably triple in height so 24 inch minimum from top of pot for the plant then depending on your light your gonna need space for the reflector and bulb and hanging device. You can top and lst to try and keep height down.

Yeah? nice well thats what i have, some sativa seeds. how big was your plant after 3 weeks when you went 12/12?? jw cause i was wondering what the ratio would be around when going from veg to flowering of the size of pre flowering to post

OK...heres the log... planted on 6/17 vegged till 7/15 they were 10 and 12 inches now at 10 weeks 48 and 36 inches....new pair started 9/6 vegged for 12 days 9/19 3 inches 6 nodes...switched to 12/12 now at 6 inches 8 nodes...I know this is early but this is just a trial on short 18/6 veg then 12/12 to finish. I will add that on the first pair I have lolipopped them to allow upper 1/3 to really fill in, because I knew it would be a waste of time to try and finish low growth due to height.

they are the "warm light" bulbs.

cool white = veg
warm white = flower :)
Yeah thats what i was thinking Got it, peace:peace: and hey i just picked up a couple cfls but there was no cool or warm label, there just "general purpose" bulbs. how should i be able to tell the difference?

The bulb itself should have an indicator on it, somewhere around 6500k is the cool white, for the veg. stage. somewhere around 3000k is your warm flowering bulb.

No online journal but I keep a log...I do not have a digital camera for pics as I keep spending extra cash on this hobby LOL...heres an Update on...started 9/6 vegged for 12 days 9/19 3 inches 6 nodes...switched to 12/12 now at 6 inches 8 nodes...10/6...now at 10 nodes 8 inches and very very bushy....the inner growth is filling in faster than other plants...and the stretch is not as bad as previous ones either...I really think thats because of side lighting I never had that before.
