Do seed pods fall off by themselves?

After you plant in soil does the seeds pod fall off by itself. Mine sprouted a stem and the seed pod is still on top.. Auto Ak47 2 days..

I had some pretty old white widow seed that I sprouted beginning of April. Most of those seeds the pod stayed on and started affecting the seedlings. I started helping them out with sterilized tweezers. If after a couple of days i would gently move it around to see if it was ready to come off. If it was real loose I would pull it off. Some I had to take a couple of days. No ill effects and I have just put them into flower and they are huge! Good luck and take it slow.
