do plants produce thc in defence against uv ?

I thought most HIDs used glass that blocked uvb? I was planning in running a couple of T5's if I can find 4' ones.

the glass from reflectors is what blocks the uv rays, I use a open hood. Probably not a lot of uv output, but I think just using a blue spectrum closer to uv may be helping.
i know i need a reptile one there uvb, black lights are uva ,ill have to buy a new one

better yet, get one HPS and one super blue MH bulb, that'll put out waaay more lumens than the reptile light, plus you get the added benefit of the blue spectrum as well as the UV

Any Updates on these UVB bulb grows...i have a 24inch 10.0 uvb reptile bulb and i was wondering the effects it has when flowering,what hours to use, and how close to use them

Use it during veg and only a bit of flower so you don't degrade the medicine when it finally starts growing. UV Bulbs are very strong as they are for cell development ZOO MED REPTISUN 10.0 is the way to go! Seriously.

Yes, it's true UV-B will increase resin production (presumably for protection). The controversial part is that an increase in resin production does not neccesarily translate into an increase in THC production (potency).
Some "experts" insisted that they are one and the same, while others contended that they were two seperate functions (that operate independantly). I don't know, for certain, which side is correct, I've never done (or heard of) a proper "side by side" test. It is "logical" that resin = THC - but is it true? Maybe somebody has more than just hear-say to settle this matter once and for all!
I know I've smoked some pretty "Frosty" buds that weren't all that potent, and some non-frosty buds that knocked my dick in the dirt!

he says dont run it more then a few hours mid light cycle in flower stage, as far as some of the dankest buds I have seen they all have uvb on them. way more crystals.
