Maybe it's an attempt to clarify a rather complex subject, because reproducing sunlight is expensive and it's going to become much, much more expensive. I think the people who have to grow under artificial lights probably want to their energy expenses to be put to the best use. I know I would. It's clear that if this is what some people believe then they really don't understand light energy and how it's utilized by all photosynthetic organisms.

Well color kinda is spectrum. Color. Its just easier to say green the 550 nanometers.
