Do I seriously have thrips

spinosad for the win!;) apply it 2 days in a row...saturate the entire grow
Thank you. Can you say, prevantitive measures from now on? Never again! ( ;

Last question and then ill feel confident.

How much per gal for soil drench? I have two flowering plants but didnt see any dmg/bugs. Should I drench, and carefully mist/dab the captain jacks on the leaves?

how far along are they? the ones in flower..

Pretty far, about 6 weeks. One is at the point where it starts to bud real quick while the other is behind a little.

I could atleast do a drench, then put layer of DE after the drench, and dab/mist as much of plant as possible without causing mold? RH is 32% tops, down to 11%.

before lights off!!! i have never needed to do soil drench. do half the doasage on bottle. doesnt take much. more is not better
I turn lights ON in an hr, Id rather not wait for lights off to drench/foliar spray. Would it be an issue if I did it say, 20min before lights on? Bump the ventilation/fans up a bit?

dude. you want the stuff to be wet as long as possible and prevent light burn. turn off your timer fpr 3-4 hours. one dark cycle of extra 3-4 hours isnt gonna hurt. otherwise wait til tomorrow. use a good sprayer, unless you have a tiny garden a hand spray botle sucks. spend another 10-20 at lowes and get a pump sprayer and get every surface of leaf, stem, soil surface as possible. no need to drench.

Ive been there done that many times

Ok cool Ill spray them and let em sit in dark for 3-4 hr. I dont have green light, is it ok to turn a ceiling light on to spray them?

Whats your opinion on flowering plants about 6weeks in? I couldnt imagine spraying buds..

It takes around 15 to 20mins of light to cause the plant to "wake up" but tbh a weak light won`t do much unless its coming on everynight

I`d let off a bug bomb of pyrethrin or something about 10 to 20 days after you use the spinosad to make sure you kill any adults that may have survived the spinosad

The egg stage and the stage before the fliers can be quite hardy

after the rooms empty run your lights or a lot of heat for 2 to 3 days to hatch out any eggs and then nuke the place clean is the best way to be sure there gone for good

Lots of people who have to run a perpetual just end up not being able to get rid of them but they can be controlled, just they are tricky if they get in the buds or in the soil cos you can`t get to them

pyrethrins???

spinosad is the answer to thrips. Ok to spray flower up to 2 weeks in. some spray later but I wouldnt.

spinosad kills thrips so bad first spray that plans bounce back next day and you swear you got em all. spray again in 3-4 days for next stage and a week later if you want.

do not use pyrethrins or bug bombs or pest strips. thrips do not justify it. especially if any pets or kids in house.

Buy an atomist and be done in 5 min
Looked it up, itd just be quicker to do big gardens huh? I only have 7 plants so it wasnt a big deal. I totally soaked the whole plants, hope I didnt overdo it.. Dam things pissed me off, used half the bottle using other half on another plant and want to hit leaves carefully with sponge or something on flowering plants? Will they eat the buds?

What happeneds when your done flowering? Wont they mess around while your curing the buds?

thrips slow down in flower for me anyways. they do not eat bud, just systemically suck on the plant and put it in stress stunted state. non issue in flower it seems. aphids on the other hand love the cycle and go crazy, same with mites.

youre over reacting with how much you sprayed. it is best to dunk whole plant in bucket if small enough, capt jacks dosage is like 5ml per gallon or something like that. not much.

just get top and bottoms of leaves and move on to next.

I shouldve mentioned it was the ready to use bottle. Thats all I could get in a hurry. Couldnt do the bucket or I wouldve. Thanks for the video, and your experience.

usually when they sell the ready to use, they also have the bulk bottle too. might want to order it on amazon or something if they dont. last you long time and you need to do follow up on new hatchlings

the problem with thrips is if they start eating the fuck out of the root ball

or if you get eggs deep inside the buds, then its real hard to kill them you can`t get anything into the buds to kill them and if the numbers get up they can turn good bud white in a few weeks

If I know their in the soil then I will make sure I flush with sugar water

If there`s nothing to eat then they all start eating the plant

a 2 week just water flush can kill your yield and quality, but spinosad does show them who`s boss, if I spinosad one in veg then by the time there done in flower the thrips can recover but normally not enough to start venturing up the plant

but I do struggle to kill them if they get into the root ball, once that happens I just control it keep them off the plant whack down their numbers and sugar in flush really helps if they are there

Hopefully you got some pussy ones that die easy, around 20 to 30% of them are resistant to almost anything they sell to kill them, but spinosad is pretty new so does better than most things would if you got them early the you should be rid of them, just keep an eye on anything new you grow, as they are very hardy

Stellar info, sugar water idea awesome. I know they're small, but I havnt seen anything move. (I turn all fans off, get myself down to soil level and watch hard.. I sprayed spinosad hardcore and theyre gone already thanks for all your guys help. I ordered the concentrate online for future applications, Im going to order neem, and use my aloe/protekt for an basic IPM(thats from lumperdwagz.)

I couldnt find any on my flowering plants. I have good air movement on them so maby they said forget it Nd left.

What do you guys use for ipm (preventative)?

cover your soil with rock that dries fast I use perlite

and we spray them when they go into veg and before they go into flower

If a garden is really bad then there`s a pill bayer sell that you put into the root ball at the start use that for a gen or 3 of plants and you clear them all out over time

In some gardens you can`t get rid of them but lacewings and their larvae state look like a nifty way to keep them in check http://www.agralan-growers.co.uk/chrysopa-larvae-291-p.asp
