Do I Really Need a Ballast?

Ive was just wondering for a low wattage HPS such as a 250w, would i still require a ballast?

all hid needs a ballast. No exceptions.

Not true, exactly. Some have built-in ballasts (my 150W does).

Built-in or remote, it still has a ballast.

True . I though about it after I posted. I assume he was just worried about remote ballasts, though. Built in ballasts shouldn't cause any problems...it's like it's not even there. But the simple answer is, yes all HID requires some form of a ballast.
