Do i put lights on right away?

Do I turn my lights on right when I see a sprout or do i let it grow a bit first. Just planted seeds and wondering when I turn lights on.

I start my seedlings off on 16light/8 dark for first 2 weeks, then go 18/6 until flower.

Of course lights on! Do we ever contemplate turning the sun off?

Haha I know it was a dumb question but I wanted to make sure I couldn't burn the little thing up or anything.
