Do I need to Fertilize?

I'm new to growing weed. I'm not even sure if I'm late on schedule for the seasons because I'm growing it outside... Its been about 1 month since I started, I have a very small crop since its my first time. But basically I'm growing them in pots way out in the forest, checking them regularly. in the pots I put 1/3 ash from a bonfire, 1/3 compost heap soil, and 1/3 regular soil which has been pretty good for me and my vegetables and tomatos so far without fertilizer. I'm wondering if the soil is so good that I don't even need to worry about fertilizing it... I have chicken manure to use as backup LOL... and yes I'm a hick. I was thinking of putting the round wire stands that I use for tomatoes around the pots for some support, and putting white plastic around the wire to give the plants more heat... any thoughts at all throw them my way. :weed:

hey goody,

it seems like you are on the right track, its good to use "chemicals" you will find you will get a better yield out of your crop I believe, although I haver never grown outdoors I would figure it would be the same as indoor grow.

I've gone through an entire grow with no chemicals or fertilizer. I found that their wasn't a huge difference in yield at all. They did get some nutes from the soil i used though. But it most certainly can be done.

Make sure that you have some kind of drainage in the bottom of your buckets to avoid overwatering from too much rain though.

I don't think you'll need anything for additional heat, but the wires would be good for support.

The fertilizer is up to you, but it is possible to do an entire grow the way you are. Adding a little fertilizer every few weeks couldn't hurt though.
I only grew without it to show it can be done, and that the bud taste's much better without so many chemicals in it. :leaf:

Matth82003....you mentioned growing a plant with out fertilizer?......Do you think it will be ok not to fertilize my 4 plants that I got when they go into the flowering stage?

When my plants do go into the flowering stage (about 6" or more),how many hours of light and darkness do you suggest for me to put mine on?.....Thanks for the help....I'm just trying to be safe than sorry cuz I don't feel like ferterlizing the plants and flushing them 2 weeks prior to harvest considering I don't know how often you fertilize them and if you can add water to them after you fertilize or do you need to flush them?....please answer my questions...thanks.

Hey guys I'm new to growing and need some advice. So I had three seeds germ'd and planted indoors about five days ago. I'm using a fluorecent bulb 100 watts in colab with direct sunlight watering them everyday lightly in a 1 gal pot.

I've had the most success with one of plants, growing about an inch tall with two very healthy looking 'normal' leaves and one decrepit yellow/brown round leaf with another good looking one. I cut off the part of the dead leaf that seemed to be blocking the rest of it from sunlight. Which I believe to have been a good idea, seeing as how the rest of that leaf looks healthier than it did, now receiving light from my floro bulb about 5 inches from the plant 24/7.

Here is my main problem, it is TINY compared to other seedlings I've seen. I think my best bet is to just give it time and see where it goes, but at this point its looking like it will turn out to be a mini marijuana plant. :/

And as for my other two, one has not yet breached the surface completely and the other i found beneath the soil sprouting sideways... so I propped it up placing the head out of the soil and packed down the dirt around the root for support. To be honest it looks good but I'm sure handling it like I did was a bad decision, this doesn't matter to me much since its my very first grow and it probably would have died anyways.

Any suggestions on how to help out my little buddies?

I've been growing a few plants in my grow room. I am using store bought soil and was wondering if I should start fertalizing. They are about 9 in tall (average) and in the next week or two i will be switching them to 12/12. They all seem very healthy but if it will improve the bud ill start. and if so- what brand or what exactly should i look for?
