Do I need a carbon filter for an airtight room with CO2?

Probably couldn't smell it if I'd never open the door, but I do, and I don't have it sealed ultra-tight or an air lock Filter and fresh air at night is optimal for me. Carbon filter and exhaust also cleans the air, prevents mold, etc. and I don't need a dehumidifier.

So no new air is brought into the room during the day? Does the CO2 turn off at night? Beautiful grow room btw.

Thanks uuh! The A/C brings some air in, I guess and if it gets very hot (rare) I run the fan, but the Co2 shuts off automatically when the fan comes on. Controller also has a light sensor, auto-shuts off Co2 at night.

This is my first post on Roll-it-up, Had to ask you a question. Im doing 6 plants, aeroponicly... All in a 5x7 walk in closet. I have a 6'' vortex fan : Its taking the air for the highest point in the grow room and using that to cool the HID then exausting it out of the room, Im planning on getting a Filter much like the one you are using. I live in apartments (Im going for 0 Smell) tell me seriously, are you just immune to the smell or do the filters REALLY work? Im up in the air right now (pun intended) about how Im going to neutralize the smell when the ladies start to flower. Also, would you suggest CO2? being such a small grow and all?

For co2 you would need re-construction, etc. The input of the light would have to be ducted outside for air intake and you would need another passive input and an output, so I wouldn't recommend it in a small space like that, specially in the middle of the cycle. Just have good airflow and you'll be fine.
As to the carbon filter: 10000 noses can't be wrong Those things most certainly work. Just make sure your fan is strong enough for the filter size. It also quiets the fan, which is nice. I also wouldn't buy a cheapo one. Get a CAN or other quality brand product.

Wow, thanks a lot.I have a 6'' vortex fan. I believe its something like 430cfm I'm pretty sure that's a stong enough fan. Any other tips you can give me that might reduce smell? How about those Ozone in a bucket type things?

I would say you really don't need the CO2. I am getting beautiful plants in a similar setup without it. It's very complicated, expensive and dangerous. There are smaller scale methods like using yeast byproducts to create co2 that are fine for smaller grows.

As for smell, the carbon filter works wonders but yes, there is still a trace in the air of the room with the closet. However I use ONA Gel Pro (not a salesman lol) and it obliterates the rest of the scent. You cannot smell it outside the door at all.

Wow, thank you all so much for your help and knowledge. This is my first indoor grow and Im still working out the kinks. I guess Ill just get a filter and a bug ol bucket of gel. I am going to Home Depot today to buy a new door to install where the last the walk-in-closet door was. I plan on drilling a 6'' hole at the top for my exaust ventilation hose to go through and dump into my room, at the bottom of the door I was thinking about putting in 2 6'' axial (spelling?) fans for intake. But since Im pulling old air from inside the closet and pushing it out the top of the door, do you think the active intake at the bottom of the door is necessary? Its a 6'' vortex 430 cfpm in a room thats like 240 cft. Seems like I wouldnt need active intake, but I am worried about smell. I guess the question is "How do I make holes for air to come in, but without smell getting out?" Sorry if I highjacked the thread for a min, you all just seem so knowledgeable. Now If I could only figure out why my leafs are cupping... dun dun duuuuuun

Just make an intake hole at the bottom and put in a backdraft damper. To prevent light escaping in and out, just connect some ducting and "snake it".

I went out today and bought myself 6''x24'' 550 CFM Phresh Filter today. I asked the guy for the best one, and he gave me it for %20 off too. Now my only question is, is it better hanging or sitting on the floor. Is the smell worse up high or down low?

I don't think it matters in a small space like that. Just put it wherever it's not in the way. The fan will clean out that room in less than a minute.
