Do any LED fixtures produce an HPS-like color?

I basically asked the same question. Full Spectrum the plants get the light they need.

With LED expect 20% less yeld but it runs some cooler and think about the price of bulbs over a years time.

20% less yield? After growing over 30 yrs with 1000 watt bulbs I changed up to Led 700 watt bars Iam using 1/3 less power my yield is up 20% easy plus no cost for bulbs 500 a yr its a no brainer for me.

You are going by your Watts. What if you had went with a comparable by watt LED? Would you have the same yeld ?

Not sure what your saying,I went from 1000 watts on a 5x5 down to 700 watts on a 5x5 an i increased my yeild by 20% with leds.
Was it a true 1000 Watts?

Just asking because with LED they say 6000 but are truly 600.

Got another Grower wanting me switch from LED. I'm good.

True 1000 watts? when my leds run at 100% they use 700 watts they are called growers choice 720e lookem up.

HMM! I have only 4X4 Tent and their saying I need what I have.

I was going to buy larger light and was told no.

But Lights are fun to keep mind going same with other stuff.

Actually I'm going by The Grow Book. Saying he likes LED better but he says will lose yeld.

Just looked I have Vivosun which is same price as yours.

I only had problems with one and they replaced it.

Just asking.
What your talking about, "led watts" are really just a marketing ploy of the past which is one of the reason you believe you lose yield compared to hps. This was all true until about 5-6 years ago when everybody just started to use real watts/what the light actually draws.
My growbuddy was the same, cursing the leds even thru the first whole led/hps side by side, due to slightly smaller buds on the led side. All the way until weigh in when he realised that he had 20% more weight per tray on the led side, even if it looked smaller.
This happens cause a properly done white base led grow actually grows denser buds than hps: buds are a bit smaller but with more weight=higher density.
some people look and squeeze buds to assess "density", when density is actually just weight/size. The reason: led is cold light, no IR and just like growing hps with too much heat leads to fluffy buds, growing with a cold light gives more density.
BLurple light, with no green light, tends to give fluffyness due to the plants morphological reaction to the light.

Dang man knows his stuff.

I'm using the Light that came with the Grow Kit from Vivosun. I think it is VS4000. Hey so far it's working for me. Now I need to quit doing other stupid stuff.

Just curious as to why I can' find an LED fixture that produces the "sick, plasma-orange" color light, similar to the color that an HPS bulb produces.

I have an HLG quantum board, a Timber COB light, an Area 51 light and a Nextlight Mini. Most all of them produce a "full spectrum" white type of light. The Area 51 is the only one that includes a separate circuit for red LEDs, but even with them switched on, the light is nowhere near the color of an HPS spectrum. If anything, most of my LED fixtures produce light that looks more the color of a metal halide bulb -that being more of a "daylight" white/blue.

This run, I have decided to break out my old school Hydropot MH fixture and magnetic ballast that I used back in the 80's. I run the MH for vegging the plants and then I switch to am HPS conversion bulb (that runs on the MH ballast), for the flowering mode. I just use the standard, cheap stadium type MH bulb -nothing specific for plants. I think I paid about $25 for the MH bulb. The HPS conversion bulb was a bit more...can't recall, exactly how much I paid.
I have found that almost all the strains I am running seem to love the HID bulbs more than they do the LEDs. I believe this is because the plants are responding to, not only the spectrum, but also that the heat is coming from the same source as the light -as opposed to running cool LEDs with a space heater in the room.

I just switched the bulbs yesterday and I started thinking abut the question of why there are no LEDs that put out light that looks like HPS light -at least as far as I've found. I know that many companies have added red LEDs, but they still don't produce light that looks like HPS light. It seems like it would be possible to recreate the HPS color with LEDs. I think I saw an ad for some lights that have a customizable spectrum, but I'm not sure what that's all about, either.
This light was advertised as being 2000watts driver is 150w but my citrus trees are taller than l am! It's 3k Oxfam with meanwell driver that will burn you!IMG_20221230_012744.jpgIMG_20221229_093929.jpg

Has this been done already and I missed it? Please fill me in. Thanks.
2700k is closest but 3k and 3500k can be bought as stand alone full spectrum. 4 k is full spectrum to but too much blue so a veg light imo! 4k plus 660Dr was my first light, using mix of 3&4 k and 660 deep reds. Not a big believer in ir.

Yes, this is not congruent to actual evidence .
These days every new grower goes straight to led. Sometimes it's not the right choice

But that wasn't the case, most of us with any length of experience growing grew with HPS for a long time before we started building our own LEDs , cuz that's what we had to do ..Those before me, a whole society of geeks, took what wasn't available to growers and adapted them in the hunt for efficiency to growing. Some of those people became lighting manufacturers and then all the poor LED manufacturers had something to copy because they had to or face going bust.

Real world experience shows the opposite of your statement for 95% of those with experience using both hps and led.

There are some , who for various reasons, usually cooler environments, have regrets over the change from hps to led.

I take it growers were not fans of those Meat-Chips or 22k cobs? I wouldn't imagine they performed very well.. They have the orange glow but that's about it.
