Mars is full of dust, we landed 2 rovers there, and I think they planned for them to last about 6 months. One was still working years after.... some mysterious thing/event keeps cleaning it. Look up the videos on youtube. But, I digress, if you ever had a stash of elf spice, never mind fields full of it, you would know that it melts and gets all yellow and gooey, and don't try to smoke that shit... yes, it teleports you, but not to anyplace you would like to be.

The shadow is from a slowly shot panoramic image. There is likely so little moisture that it doesn't need cleaning.
