DIY with Quantum Boards

Hey, many of us have used them, not knocking something that's better than nothing! I started growing because my lady has MS. Study on medical for a month before I even suggested it. I'm retired and so on a fixed income. I bought my first lights seeds etc, not even a tent for $700.00. I took a part time job to pay for it and for all the upgrades I did for the 2 years after I started. I've used CFL in a cabinet. One tent and cab at a time, I converted to mainly QB lighting. I've one, 4 cob light from parts bought from northerngrowlights, now HLG. But as soon as I saw QBs become available, I jumped on board! I've got 4 QB304 in one 4x4 tent, one QB 288 in a 22"x20" x48" cab, and two QB120 in a 32" wide x 20" deep x 28" tall. Took me 2 years to do it. I understand really.

904"]Soon as I got the 288,it was over for them... But i can't lie, if it wasn't for them i wouldn't have the plants that I do...[/QUOTE]

I started donating plasma to get my lights, a sterilite container, seeds, basically everything I have now besides the qb... Im thinking about getting another job to pay my rent/bills,and use my other check to further my growing... I respect what you are doing for your wife and im sure that by now its something that you love to do... I do it because im tired of my girl spending money for shit weed that people say is some exotic shit, but was really just shit!!!

HLG was formerly Northerngrowlights. My first GOOD light was a cob light built from parts I bought from them. I got their Mod420 frame and 4, Citi 1825 cobs and heatsinks. I odered a pair of 240H-C2100b drivers for it. I had lenses but removed them am am much happier with the results.

I converted to QBs starting almost as soon as they were available! I love my cob light, but the QBs give so much more hearoom, etc!

last pic, recent grow under the cobs @ 270 watts

How much space did that take up, or rather what are the dimensions? I wanted something like that but cobkits told me that it would be too much for my small tent, but i think that as long as therrs a dimmer control it would have been ok... But apparently he knows more about it than i do...

it is in a 4'x4' tent the frame is 17"x17". with the heatsinks its about 3.2" tall. But, then add hanging cables, i used chain as short as i could, and rope ratchets, I lose almost a foot. still not as bad as an HPS hood. I just have to be careful of plant height

What did you power three boards with and why?
3 boards per hlg-320h-c1750. In hindsight, I guess I should have gone with the 2100 driver so I had the option of dimming but I doubt I would run that high with my setup anyway. If anything, I would probably just add more rows of boards for even better light distribution.

Finally about to flower out these greenteam cookie pebbles. This will be a 5x9' tent with six 3000k QB288v2 boards ran at 1750mah and two 3000k V1 boards ran at 2100mah. The last fixture is three photon phantom boards (one 4k sunboard, two fusion boards) at 2100 mah which I don't think I like as much. I am curious to see how things go with such a low watt/sq. ft (23 w/sq. ft about).

I've long wanted to do a vertical scrog using QB lighting. It may take a few months but I'm planning to convert my 4-QB304 light into a 12 board light running off an HLG480H-C2100 with 2, series/parallel strings of 6. 12 boards @ 35 watts each will give a nice spread of low power light coverage and should be able to run it fairly close to the plant. I've long been drooling over ttystik's vertical grows!

Here's what I've got going now, two of the qb 120's are out of the view. These pics are a week old. I have some uvb lights but didnt get them installed for this run, going to rearrange the lighting when this run is done.

3x3 back up ....

4 panel QB with COBS - ( 3500k )

She was off while growing mostly in Mylar room. Decided to pop some more seeds.
These are separate from the other stuff I got going as those are 12/12 runs , kinda on a 12/12 kick lately.

Anyways this is 18/6 - running 2 TESTER strains ( Black Afghani X Blueberry ) AND
One of my own REMIXES ( lol ) ..... ( Mephisto TOOF X Blue Dream HSO ) .
That is the first seed running from that cross , so don't know what will happen , hopefully some fire weed .... Lol.

Started a light feed with Maxigro and will add some silica to next watering as the temps are rising this week. Power has been dimmed ( QB and cobs ) to about 50% or so for these young girls.

Been following along your grows since you switched to QB ... Looking good .
No worries about that stem break , now you know if stem is feeling stiff and " woody " it might break. Look into LST on your next runs , easy way to shape plants ...

Keep us posted ..

Yeah, now I know to do all training when the plant is in the early stages... Qbs are the way to go for me from here on out!!! I started growing using cfls thinking that it would be cheaper and easier, but all they did was burn my plants up and jack my electric bill up... I don't have to worry about any of that happening with the qb... I'm glad that I satisfied my curiosity by trusting you guys that have been using these and went ahead and bought one myself... Ive gone on a seed buying binge as of late and when these plants are done i will be starting with some new stuff... I will definitely keep you all posted on my grow... Thank you for your words of encouragement and support, that goes out to everyone who has been watching the rookie play the game... I couldn't have done this well without all of you!!!
