DIY Samsung LM561C build

SO I have been following and found an Alibaba seller here that sells the samsung lm531C S6 bin Chip on a Strip. https://mufue.en.alibaba.com/?spm=a2700.8443394.0.0.aFS2m7 hey a new name CoaS instead of CoB HAHA. anyway I am getting 5m of 5000k- 24v lm561c S6 bin to make a custom light spyder type with a few spectrum cobs.

Nice, @VegasWinner , let us know how they work out for you! @Oneshark had some nice pics in the beginning of the thread, but it seems he's disappeared on us ;), so I'm not sure how his plants are liking them yet. Personally, I'd like to know how they perform vs the Samsung H series rigid strips, especially for 1/4 the price of the H series:confused:

I can only go on the sellers honesty. Our dialog was/is quite open. He wanted to know if I was going to buy a volume after the hand made 5m strip. Their machine makes reels of 50m minimum. Genuine Samsung? I don't see why not he shared his bin sheets with me too. Nice guy named Roget

You will not only see voltage drop through the length of the strips, this many resistors between the LED's also turn a lot of current into heat.
So these strips are not as efficient as you might think. ~140-150lm/w maybe?
You should have searched for CC strips where no resistors are needed. They are available, I've seen them on alibaba!

And compare the prices.
With your price you pay less (26$ :300 led's =0,0867$/pcs) for a single LED as Mark offers(230$ :2500pcs =0,092$/pcs) and this including production costs.
Still sure that these are real S6 bins?

Are those black things inbetween some of the led's resistors? i cant find any strips without those black things in between even when they say constant current on alibaba.

Talk to the supplier or view the 561c thread of @OLD MOTHER SATIVA
The regid strips with resistors are made for 24v CV.
CC strips don't need resistors. For instance the 2ft H-series has a 8S6P configuration(8x 2,8125v =22,5v, 480mA:6=80mA per string).

they have certifications on their miniwbsite and product listings. They changed their minimum from 5m to 40m, they are the real deal. I expect to get my 100w of 561c 5000k 5m strip in a few days from DHL and I will build a nice veg light for my vegetabkle garden with a couple of full spectrum cobs to balance the colors. They are 24v strips BTW and around 100w per 5m roll.

I am awaiting my ChilledLed boards for my upgrade to my Bloom Boom Boom room and retire my 3590's in bloom. I still use 3590's for veg. I added a full spectrum cob to my 200w veg rig, but it is run at 100w much netter growth that way/

I would just like to share my DIY fixture with you guys as a way of giving back to this community as I have been a long time lurker here.

I'm currently on my first grow with my DIY cheap Chinese cob plus monos fixture. Planning to upgrade to 4*CLU048-1212 for my cab as I want it to be a cheap build. Then the Quantum Boards craze hit with results to back it up. But then it's always out of stock so I thought maybe I could do it myself.

(Also thank you to the HLG for bringing these diodes from the shadows, no one on their right mind would go from "high" power cobs down to these "mids", but you guys did all the hard work with your research proving that it's the bomb. So thank you!)

I was thinking if maybe I could source some Samsung LM561C diodes on a flexible LED strips the ones being used on mood lighting, maybe I could build one specifically for my cab. Then I searched and I did really found a supplier. Also saw The LED Gardeners blog and that's he's also going to DIY these QB's but with rigid led strips so that made me more excited for my upcoming project since it's really doable.

So my plan was to build a fixture with evenly spaced diodes compared to the QB's so that the light intensity would be spread out and that I could lower it further to the canopy. Then the Fluence SPYDRx form factor hit me. So that's what I built, a mini SPYDR measuring 21"x 28" for my 24"x30" cab.

I ordered 5 meters of 3000k and 5 meters of 3500k flexible LED strips with a Samsung LM561C 24V 80CRI S6 bin diodes. 60diodes/meter for a total of 600 diodes powered by 1 HLG-185-24A.
This strips has adhesive 3M tape at the back.

I bought 10 pieces of 0.5 meters in length of 1 inch square aluminum bar, glued and riveted them to a 4 inch wide aluminum C channel. Drilled some holes for the wiring, slapped two 0.5 meter strips for every bar and did hours of soldering.

Reason for the mixing of spectrum was that on the spec sheets of the LM561C, combining these two would be the nearest to the PhysioSpec spectrum of Fluence minus the deep reds which they do have a separate diodes for those. Also 24V strips over 12V to lower the amperage and that it's less prone to voltage drop. As these LED strips voltage' drops after 5 meters. So I wired mine on parallel every 2.5 meters.

Currently I'm running them on full for testing and the bars are warm to touch and that's it's really bright.

Total Cost:
1*3000k 5m strip - $25.95
1*3500k 5m strip - $25.95
1* HLG-185-24A - $39.00
DHL Shipping - $30.31
TOTAL: 121.21

Plus another more or less $20 for the frame and wires.

GRAND TOTAL: $140 for a mini SPYDR with 600 LM561c diodes for 185 watts.
Does it come close to a Spydr or match an HPS? How cool does it run? Cool job,.

thanks for the info, would like comments but i think i haven't posted enough to get that option yet. I contacted a few suppliers on alibaba asking are your strips constant current? there looks like resistors inbetween the diodes. they reply: yes those are resistors to balance current between each diode. i thought resistors limit voltage?
