Ah, just read up further. The AB's aren't the top, but next to top? Still slightly better than the Z2's and 4's (in terms of efficiency), correct? I still haven't gotten that part of the data down pat yet. I've been keeping my eye on this stuff, surprised I didn't see that posted a week or so ago. Going to pick up a set of these and get building, while all my soil cooks! Hoping to be burning watts by end of September, I'll be posting my room design (which will feature a DIY Mover on a drive screw), and light design, which is a modifcation on Westnewton's vinyl rail. Since the makers of the pontoon I was going to use told me that putting 730s in the lights out bars would increase the cost significantly (didn't even bother getting the exact quote, it was already ~$100), and I thought that was the main spectrum that I need to hit for the flowering initiator, so I'll be making my own. I'm going to start a thread when I get my final parts list hammered down. Since I'll be using these to supplement EFDL, they'll be heavy red, so my build won't be best for everyone, but it'll be easy enough to swap out a couple of the reds for blues. I just need to figure out how I'm going to incorporate the initiator bar and it's timer to the other rail.

Big ups to everyone who has shared their data and knowledge in this thread. Can't wait to contribute my designs.

The AB is the top bin for the 3000K.

If you go to a higher K temp...even higher bins(AD, BB, BD, CB) are available based on how high K temp you go. But for the 3K the AB is the top of the mountain for now.

Yeah, I've got no problem with 20, although I'd like to go back and see how much I'm saving in efficiency for the 16 I'll be running in flower. The other 4 are going in veg, and I'm not as concerned about. I would like to calculate how long it'd take me to make up the 300$ difference, essentially.

so driving two cobs 3070AB's + 1.4amps, each will have almost 50w, so 100w together, right?

Could be aeration as well. Although i agree, could be linked to nitrogen..
I always assumed most organic soils should be good on nitrogen, especially from all the worm shit and kelp.

My current batch is definitely fading early..

My strategy has been to reamend with N based ferts (organic EWC/compost, organic chicken manure, organic alfalfa and kelp meal) because I expect a lot of it gets used up during veg and I figured it would leave a nice balance behind for flowering. I add as much EWC and compost as I can make, but I was still experiencing a lot of early fading around week 3 or 4 so I keep jacking up the chicken manure in the re-amend little by little and my fade has been improving every batch. I have also been increasing soil volume and vegging them up larger to try and squeeze more yield out of them and that seems to be helping.

Yes they are the top bin 3000Ks, a great deal for anyone who needs 20 or more. They also have 3500K Z4 bin and 4000K AD top bin.

How long do you amend before you transplant directly? And how much chicken manure? Im assuming its already composted chicken manure?

Worst case scenario it gets at least 3 weeks to cook before reuse but the soil is usually sitting fallow in the pots for 3-4 weeks before I get around to reamending so I water in some EWC tea, chicken manure, fish hydrolysate and blackstrap to keep it alive while it waits for the granular ferts.

I am using 6ml of composted chicken manure per liter of used soil. Here is my exact mixture for each reammend cycle. The mixture is not a special recipe, I have tried many different mixtures and they all worked great. Sorry for the metric units I am american but deeply disturbed by the units of measurement that we use that are not based on 10.

organic EWC/compost (as much as I can create, usually 20ml/L)
organic chicken manure (chicketty doo doo or organicare pure grow granular) 6ml/L
kelp meal 1ml/L
organic alfalfa meal 1ml/L
azomite/glacial rock dust 1ml/L
inonesian guano 1ml/L
greensand .5ml/L
crab shell meal .5ml/L
organic neem meal .25ml/L
I also add some pulverized organic eggshell and organic groats if I have any lying around. You can also add granular humates, humic/fulvic acid powder, and agsil 16H. I highly recommend diatomaceous earth, pumice, bark chips and organic rice hulls over perlite for aeration, although there is a lot of perlite in my soil because some of the base mix came from foxfarm ocean forest and sunshine mix. Recently I started making my own base mix:

Rinsed coco peat (1/2)
Premier peat (1/2)
Diatomeaceous earth granular (Napa 8822 oil dry)

Amend as above, twice and then it is good to go. Any suggestions for more good amendments? I figure the more variety the better.

I water in microbial tea on a regular basis to the cooking soils, the vegging ladies and the early flowering ladies. The measurements of this recipe are important.

1 liter chlorine/chloramine free water
25ml fresh EWC
4ml blackstrap molasses
2ml kelp meal
.66ml fish hydrolysate
(credit Microbe Organics/Tim Wilson)

Brew with plenty of aeration for 24-36 hours and water in. 1 liter of this tea is enough for 500ft² as a soil drench, so a little goes a LONG way. Better off to make small 1L tea with proper aeration than a 5 gallon tea with poor aeration.

And perfect tea, most people brew dead microbes. Only need 4 ingrediants, kelp ewc and fish and mollasses

One adjustment i would make to your mix is add more glacial rock, triple or even quadruple your current amount, very haard to over do it.
Also i highly rec to add a good lime mix of polverized 1 part oystershell 1 part gypsum 1 part dolmite lime =1cup per cf
Also i say drop the green sand, replace with alfafa, or something that doesnt take years to break down.

Do u use mychos when u transplant?

I made my own EM1 recently to cook my mix with it cooked for a good 6 weeks or a hair more. Simple to make and free if you have some white rice and milk.

I just finally got on board with SST, bought a 2.5lb bag of barley seed for $10 and made some SST and applied a few days ago, large boost in growth and stretch (my ladies are in the stretching period anyway right now).

Mix that sst tea with alfafa to reduce stretch!

I got the barley on ebay it was an auction and no other bidders so I got it for $10 but I think the same guy was selling the 2.5lb bags for like $13 shipped.

This bag will last me a really long time I think, I used 11g dry barley seed to start and after sprouting blended with like a cup of water in my Vitamix and then added that seed/water slurry to 1.5 gallons of water and it was plenty strong the water was really white/cloudy.

So 11g/1134g (2.5lbs) makes ~150 gallons of SST at that rate will last me a couple years. Ill probably try some other sprouting seed when I run out of barley.
