Those 3 plants... I think as soon as they show me signs of accepting the new light, by growing, flower time. They're 6 weeks from seed this week and are super stretchy. Super Lemon Haze.

I ask because Growmau5 did par readings on a frame that was the same as yours, shorter than 24", & it created a hit spot in the middle I hope you don't have that issue being only 18" from cob to cob. You had 24" of space, why not make it 24"?

why would you make the cobs touch the walls @Airwalker16 ,if you have reflective walls it should be good to be 6 inches off those walls for even coverages.in an open space,yes space those babies out more.

I'm just going of @Growmau5 input. He said to space them out at the LEAST 24", More if you have the room to do so.

All you had to do was take out the go green fixture and watch your garden for a few days maybe a week. Now you ruined your lamp and voided any sort of warranty. From now on it has to be more time gardening and less time at look how cool my cob fixture is. You have a bad ass lamp you built, let it work for you. Another thing thats very important. Every ones room runs different, you can take a suggestion but the gardener has to make the correct adjustments to their strain and their environment. I mean no disrespect, i enjoy watching your garden on here.

I saw @Growmau5's vid on a small build and made note he had hot spots. The hot spots were in the middle, right under the center cob. I'm growing 3 plants with the center of the room being the edge of the 3 plants, not the center of the plants.
Not sure what I can do about it, as at 24 inch arms, my first incarnation of a frame, the led's were very close to the tent itself. So after not liking that, the shorter arms fit much better, a side effect may be they are too close together and I have hot spots, but I don't really see a fix???

just wanna clarify this, he suggests using 26-28'' bars which puts the spacing between the center of each cob at 11-12''.

The hot spot that I had in the video was apparent, but not crazy disproportional. I'm sure it would even out by hanging the light a bit higher.
This "may" be the best config for a 5 cob build to illuminate a square space, But it would be much more challenging to build than linear bars.

Oh yeah...btw.
The temp in the room went from 84* with the 2 Mars2 400's(360w total) to 75 with the new light.

Those are convenient kits, I am skeptical about passively cooling the COBs though because they do put out a lot of heat. I guess I am about to find out

why are there kits without a driver?

Some people may have their own power supply. Or may want to run a different current than 1.4A

some come with a drive some dont i would think its so people who want to run them harder or softer amp

Hi @GreenSanta,

Both Atulip and GingerBee are correct. Some folks prefer to run at different currents to drive the COBs harder, or softer. We aim for 50W per COB, which is 36V @ 1.4A. We use solely Meanwell HLG series drivers all driven at 1.4A, with differing voltages for the different kits (200-300W).

Additionally, we have found for our international customers that it is sometimes more cost effective for them to source the power supplies locally and purchase just the COB/Heatsink pre-wired kit because the cost of shipping is lower due to the size/weight of the box (an HLG power supply adds about 3 lbs). We ship by DHL and have negotiated good rates, however international air freight costs have gone up substantially over the past few years. Our non-power supply kits also come with a water proof interconnect which makes connection to any power supply really easy and requires no soldering.

For domestic customers, the shipping size/weight is irrelevant as we offer free shipping on all our kits.

1" x 1" is probably fine. You can also order alum cut from some places and have it delivered, I was pricing a few options and I think speedy metals comes out the cheapest. (Processing fee started being added after 10 pieces cut the same length, but not for multiple cut lengths(don't order 11+ of the same size))
