Hey all, I've been debating on whether to do CFL or HPS and obviously I'm going CFL. This is what I have so far for parts...

18"x36" aluminum sheet (from welding section)
3 duel sockets
3 lampholders
6 26w 6500k lights

NEED
wire (which if anyone is really good with electrical, I need help here too)
?
?
?

Am I missing anything else here? I really want to get this going. :D:joint:

Unfortunately I can't be any help, but I will be curious to see of any responses....I have a similar reflector issue....I am growing with 42 watt cfl's and can't find a reflector that will fit one bulb, let alone 2 with a y split. My lighting set up is almost identical to the one in Garden Knomes Buds for Less book. I tried using the clamp lights from Lowe's Home Depot and they do not fit....any one know a website where I can get reflectors, or have any suggestions?

Sorry to hijack your thread blizzie420, I just saw your ? and didn't want to start a new thread.....hopefully we get some answers beneficial to us both....

I see they allowed you to register with my name just because the space is missing. But that's a computer that does that not a human. I think the names are too close and would respectfully request that you abandon it and register with a new one.

Thanks Rose! I'm sure he doesn't want an easily confused name either. By the way, we don't want to forget about the original poster. I'm not diy guy but I don't see how anyone can make a hood reflector for less than the $39 you can get this one for:

http://growwurks.com/index.aspx

It has the socket and a long cord, a good deal.

you should buy a 105w or 150w cfl and use the reflector for that *edit* remember to get full spectrum grow bulb!

Good point. Growurks where the reflector is, also has 105w cfls for $25, a great deal. AND they come in 6500 and 2700. I have one of each in a pair of these reflectors on top, and then a mix of sidelights hanging down into the foliage. At least that's what it will be when this next grow gets going.

My plan is to have the 6 lights for 3 plants. I just figure if I'm going to have the plants in a line, I might as well have the lights in a line too. I got the aluminum for 20 bucks and maybe 10 bucks for the other parts.

Look in the top right corner of your post, I joined in March of 2009 with the name IllegalSmile, 4 months before you...using your thought process, you stole "my" name...

Here's s slight update. I took measurements of the area I'll be working with and it is L=36" W=15" H=42"
I need to figure out what lengths the bends should be for the reflector.
ANYONE?

I need a little clarification. Since CFLs are energy efficient, and 26w = 100w would it take 4 CFLs to use that much wattage?
