O.k. i have grown off and on for 15 years, soil and hydro. Recently started again, and now with the internet and all its information, I cannot find a name for the system i am using. Its made up of 8 5 gallon buckets. 2 rows of 4. elevated just above the rez. each row of buckets is connected at the bottom to the next bucket until it is back at the rez. 1/4 feed line in top constantly flowing. 20gallon rez, 250gph pump, 2 airstones, and stones in bottom of buckets.

is this DWC?

do you have water in the tubs with an air stone? if not then that is an old school drip system sort of an early nft. i knew an old man that used a system like that to grow tomatoes for many years. if you could post more details that would be awesome.

what kind of pump feeds the drippers? are the plant buckets full of water? what size res do you use?

250gph submerged pump, 1 1/2 inch of water in the buckets, pump on while lights on. 20gal res for 8 5 gal bucsket

cool, that definitely sounds like an old nft system. do you use some sort of manifold for the drip lines?

ya i strap a 1/2 inch line to a 2x4 and have It 1/4 inch lines coming from that. it works quite well for me. Would like to know how to supercharge it a bit tho.

it would be very easy to convert that set up to a dwc system by simply raising the level of the res and adding air stones in the buckets. are the buckets full of hydroton or is there open space around the roots?

if you increase the water level and add an air stone to each bucket you would have a dwc system. give it a try, you might be surprised by the results.

you still want them in an acceptable range, but a larger water volume is easier to keep at an even temp.

here are some pics i just took about 20 minutes ago
