DIY 36 Site Aeroponic in a HOMEbox XL under a 600W HPS

Here is the continuation in my series where that I am attempting to not purchase any super special pre-built growing systems.

I will update later but here are some long overdue pictures from quite a while ago:

Reservoir accessories.

Modified water pump, heater, temp sensor and air stone.

I modified my water pump, look for the one that says "Optional inline use" on the box. Take the front off and screw in the part that has a flat adjustable blade. Then place the filter bag over that end and zip tie it on. Adjust the suction blade towards the bottom of the bucket. It will pull in through the filter bag and keep the pump in good shape.

Try to place the pump so that the water goes up the middle of the reservoir.

I have 42 sprayers and decided to get a 396GPH pump.

I have a 200W heater and an air pump to oxygenate the solution.

The clear tube on the front is for reservoir level indicator.

I have to drill 3" holes in the lid for the aero chambers to return solution to the reservoir.

Drilling in this PVC with a large hole saw is a real pain in the ass.

I have a trash can that is going to sit outside the HOMEbox XL and it will be plumbed over to the reservoir at a level above the minimum level for the pump. That way I can always add water or nutes from outside the tent and never have to disturb the inside or worry about if the res is full or empty and the PPM and pH levels.

Nice clean set up I was thinking of building my own setup much like yours but i was gogin to use that white 4-6" sewer pipe. I am not sure if we have enough scrap laying around to build what i want ao i may go out and buy some of that square type plastic you are useing what is it called ?

I'll be posting the drawings for the parts as well as a complete parts list once the project is built and running.

The tubes are fence posts, 4" x 4". I'm using 3" net pots.

Talk about an odd look. Ask the guy at the local hardware store for fence posts and pvc plumbing in the winter.

Thanks, soon everyone will be able to build one just like this by following some designs I'll post. I'm making mine for a HOMEbox XL and you can size it to your own size.

what kinda temps are you seeing with that 600 on? Also why are you putting a heater in your rez?? Looks like a nice setup, cant wait to see it finnished.

Basement floor temp is around 50* Outside temps are around -10* With the 600 on and the fans off maybe a max of 86* and a low of 69* I'm still working out the temp issues, a timer for the fan and a speed control will fix the majority of the problems. I have a large humidifier to keep humidity up also. Before adding it the humidity was around 28% .

My experience with the basement floor during the winter is that the res would be around 65 degrees and the heater will bump it up just enough.

Water temp on your roots is very important!

I heard the proper res temp is around 58 degrees the warmer the res water is the less oxygen the water can hold .

You always want room temperature water on your roots cold water stunts growth. If it feels cold to the touch it is too cold for the roots.

65f is perfect temp for rez.

That is 65* during the day cycle, gotta keep in mind the night cycle! The heater will get little use and eventually none at all when the winter is over. I don't want luke warm water just an average optimal temp.
