DIY 3 Gallon Rubbermaid DWC

Hmmm I want to see if I can find these 3 gallon guys. I use the 18 and 21 gallon ones for my full sized plants but I will be needing something to work clones in. I'm thinking that making two of these would be great, have 2 different growth stages in each. Have the mother, then the flowering ones in the big tub, then about-to-flower clones in one 3 gallon tub and some new clones in another one..

hmmmm
hahah

fuck I need to go to sleep, class is so early =[

i'm confused.
you taught us how to drill a hole and stick an airstone in it..?

there is no info in any of those posts about actually hooking up a bubble system.
all you did was install an airstone.
no pump.
no holes in the lid.
no netpots.
nothing.

Dub, I think that the point of this and all DIY DWC threads is to kind of get people to realize that it is so simple KISS. It really is just a tub with a hole in the top and a small hole in the side for the air hose to go in. That's all there is to it.

You're complaining because you don't see an air pump or a net pot? Really guy? Well you have two different sized holes. One is big as shit, and one is small. You have two items. One is small the other is big. Big to big, small to small. Plug in. yay!

Not trying to be a dick, but I feel like you are trying to put him down in his own DIY thread that many people have appreciated.

If I was you, I'd ask for a refund and get my money back.

I like the water level indicator, but not the algae. An idea - take the area of the tube where the water level should be, tape it off, then spray paint the tube black. It won't get much light and either you see the water level where you want it, or it is down.

So when ur airstone deterierates, how u change it! Recalk it? Y wouldn't u calk an airline in there so u can pull the stone off it and not calk it agn

Good idea... however I have since moved the holes up to the top and my stones just lay at the bottom.

On a side note though, when my airstones deteriorate, I just give them a good brushing with my BBQ grill brush (after washing it of course). A minute or two worth of brushing breathes new life into them.

Great thread, just read the whole thing. So I take it that the net pot size in not very important for growing big plants, if you did 3 footers in 2 and a half inch net pots! Do you think your setup would work good for 6 autoflowers? This will be my first attempt not in soil, your thread may have converted me...

I'm not sure about using autoflower strains in this size of a container. I use these to flower clones that aren't even 6" tall. I root them, and then flower them.

If you're gonna do autoflower strains, I'd limit the occupation to 3 or less plants per 3 gallon tub. They will grow really fast while in veg in a hydro system. Which is a good thing, because your veg time is limited with autos.

seks.

i think this is how every grower should start, hydro is actually way less maintenance than soil, just go with a tried and true formula and follow the directions.

soil you don't ever know what's going on with it, and it takes up so much more space, have to re-pot, f/ w/ nutes. pita.

Diggity...... I've been looking for an "Idiot's Guide" to the DWC for so long. You did it buddy. It's because of you there will be more marijuana in this world than before.

You did your job. Now, I must do mine. Thanks!

Forever in debt to your priceless advice. Pliggity plus rep!

Hey great guide Diggity, I am planning on using your design for my first grow. But I was wondering if anyone knows if it makes much noise. Can you hear a bubbling, roiling sound with a strong pump? I am trying to keep my op as clandestine as possible.

Depends on the pump you buy.
I have 2 similar builds based off lurkmaster DIY. One has a $20.00 pump that works great, but is very noticeable. The 2nd one has a $60.00 pump that I can barely here. The water hits the sides of the bucket softer as well. Other than the color of the buckets and the pumps the builds are identical.
