Have not been on here for a while. Just thought about this thread. I finished my project. Ended up with 36 red, 8 royal blue, and 4 white. I have done three grows, two good, one ill fated. My last was #1 skunk. Real good stuff. One plant, 41 grams dry. Not great but ok. Light has worked without a hitch. I am much more pleased with flowering performance than vegetative performance. At present, I am constructing a veg only light , same design but more leds. This unit has 64 three watt royal blue leds. I am almost done. Once I have something in my box under the light I will post results.

Here is that promised update on my LED lighting adventures. I finally completed my all Royal Blue veg light. It is on its maiden
voyage as I write this. I am a real procrastinating son of a gun. I have had my heat sink built for months, had my lights and drivers, but could not make myself finish the project Luckily for me, my partner continued to grow his ass off....which kept me in reefer. Anyhoo, with him ragging me every week to finish the light I finally got it done. I put a #1 Skunk clone under the Blue Beast about 6 weeks ago. I let it grow to about 6" high, then I bent it over and pinned it down. It started to grow vigorously, and it continues to, and I continue to pin down the growing tips. My partner started vegging a sister clone at the same time under 300 watts of CFLs .My plant is close to twice the size of his. (My blue light is 192 watts) I am going to post some pics. The pics are of the @1 Skunk under the blue light and of a #1 Skunk reveg that my partner grew and harvested and then revegged.. He gave it to me to put in my empty flowering box under my mostly red light. I started both plants the same day, about six weeks ago. Lights on 12/12 on reveg and 24 hours on on veg plant. Both of these plants are single plants. I'm trying to post some pics from my phone....not having any luck. So I am going to post this and work on the pics.

These were taken late this afternoon. The flowering plant under the red light (my first light,,,described on this thread) is a #1 Skunk reveg. My partner grew the plant ....harvested....revegged and gave it to me to put under my red led. The plant under the blue led is also a #1 Slunk. It is a clone of the lady under the red light.I started them both at the same time. They have been under my lights for 7 weeks. The first couple of weeks, my flower box timer was screwing up and not delivering 12/12. Sooo, I think that plant is a little behind, It is still growing, I might go 10 weeks. My problem is that I could use the flower box right now for my other plant. I am going to drop the screen on it tomorrow. That should control it until it can get into flower bos.

I took my plants out of their boxes this afternoon. Took some pictures in normal light. I dropped the screen onto the veg plant. I put a ruler in the middle so that I can monitor growth. The end of ruler is 4.5 inches above screen. IMG_0896.JPG IMG_0906.JPG

Here are a few pics of my vegging plant after it recovered from having the screen dropped on it. Also pics looking up at my lights.

Growing like a weed! Tomorrow I'm going to pull the long stems down through the screen and relocate them so that they will be the same height as the shorter ones. I don't have a lot of vertical space and they will stretch quite a bit at the start of flowering.

Gave my veg plant an attitude adjustment this afternoon. Pulled the long stems down thru the screen and relocated them, Plant looks like I hit it with a weedwacker. I managed to do this and only broke one stem. I am going to try to clone that tip...I will need something in the veg box when I move this plant into the flower box. (about a week I think,,,maybe a little longer, depending on the reveg that is in the flower box right now.) I am posting before and after attitude adjustment pics and a few bud pics.IMG_0921.JPG

So they say. But, for me, I couldn't be more pleased with my all royal blue veg light. My first light is red/blue/white, I vegged three plants with that light. I am flowering with that light as I write this. My all blue light smokes the r/b/w light big time for veg, and I stress "BIG TIME". Acknowledged, the ratio is not the 50/50 that you suggest. I took pics of the early veg with my phone but couldn't post them. It was very impressive. Check out this thread in a couple of days; see if you still think that I need to tweak my light. However, it is immaterial, as I am very happy with this light for veg. I am considering redoing my r/b/w flower light into all deep red. If I do that, I will be removing 8 blue and 4 white. Another thing that I am thinking about is building another all royal blue veg light for my growing partner using high quality diodes instead of cheap ones. That being said, after I got my first light working with all cheap components, I have had zero problems. No burned out diodes, no burned out drivers. Also, for what it 's worth my blue light (with all cheap components) has been on steadily for almost two months...no problems. Thanks for your interest.
