Divide 4x8 tent

im interested in doing a perpetual grow set up. I already have multiple lights fans etc because I currently grow in a 4x8. I was wondering if anyone had any advice or opinions on how to split my tent if possible and not get light leaked in between the to. If not I will have to scrap the 4x8 and by two separate tents.

Will you be able to access the plants in veg without exposing the sleeping flowering plants is a concern.

What is the door situation on your tent ? Any windows large enough to be used as a door?

Don't even think about dividing a 4x8.
Buy a small veg tent and use the 8x4 for flower.
Or change to a couple of smaller tents.

Apart from not spending money there is no advantage to splitting a tent with different light schedules. You still need multiple fans, filters and everything else.
Its a disaster waiting to happen.

Hi Andyvan,
People seem to have responded to the idea of splitting up a tent...when your actual intent for that was a perpetual grow.

You could have two separate 12/12 flowering areas in that 4x8. Needn't be divided if they are on the same schedule. Just hang a piece of reflective plastic between them.

Then just add a small vegging tent that can also serve as clone momma home and clone seedling stations.

So if you have an 8 week strain, you could set it up so that you harvest once a month. Wouldn't that do what you want to do?

I once saw a heavy cloth divider curtain (multiple layers) used in a tight attic eve space to separate a flowering area and veg area.
Plants never got to be taller than 2 feet and were trained to grow horizontally instead of vertically. Some light bleed did occur, mostly creating feminized seeds.

If you were able to drape, affix, seal, etc. a panda paper divider from floor to ceiling, you might be able to pull it off. Probably require some intense duct tape too, to seal any edges.

The obvious precaution, is watch out for light bleed, from your veg area into the sleeping flowering area.

Two tents would be easier, but dividing a tent, a box, or even an attic eve space can be done.

If you really want to get tricky, flower some auto flowers alongside the photo period plants you're vegging in a mini stadium that is the backbone of the divider wall you construct in the center of your tent.

If you want to use one tent, start one 4x4 footprint on flowering.. wait a month and start flowering the other half of the tent.

You will have your lights at two different heights but you wont risk light leaks and hermaphrodite plants.

Granted you will need another 4x2 or 4x4 tent for veg but this is how you can do what you want without taking a huge risk. Don't risk herming your crop to light leaks, all that hard work deserves a good outcome.
