Ditchin' the Tent?

I've got a 7x2x8 closet and am currently growing with a tent in there. I was thinking of ditching the tent and mounting the light from the ceiling. I have suffecient scrubbing/exhaust@710 CFM. I can think of some pros and cons of losing the tent.

Pro:
No negative pressure issues/tent bowed in
Heat can disopate better through the walls
I will have more grow area without the tent as the space is wider and allows the light be raised an additional 18".
The higher light would also help with heat control as well.

Con:
Bifold doors on closet leak light/will need a heavy tarp/curtain or weatherstripping to block light leaks.
Less ordor protection if power goes out. (I'm the homeowner though)

Should I ditch the tent? Thanks for your help.

I would..

Tents are tough to keep cool. That alone can be a deal breaker unless you have the equipment to keep your ladies happy. I think you should ditch the fucking thing. Even an extra foot or two can increase your yield substantially.

Line your doors with some panda film (no more light leaks). And, you could totally cannibalize your tent and line your walls with it's guts. Catch some stray lumens.

Tents are noob rooms. Burn it.

Any recommendations for light proofing bifold closet doors while still allowing passive air intake?

How ligjt proof do you need it?
And why not the door to the room the closet is in, easier

Light proof enough to facilitate and maintain flower. The closet is in my bedroom which has two windows. I am currently running the lights at night for the summer so the closet would need to be dark during daylight.

If you are there at the times you need to be, you could cover the whole door with panda film during lights out, but you would have to take it down when the lights came on.

Black and white poly for door. Cut hole in door for intake. Put a 90 degree on the outside facing downwards. Paint inside of 90degree black.

Or just hang a blanket over the outside of door from right above the door, then just figure out a way to hold the blanket up while in the grow space... When finished just unroll it to cover the doors

OK, two pics two options. I would prefer going with the second but know the first would be better for heat exhaust. The second allows more plant coverage. Also in the second pic I have numbered 1-6 spots for potential 4" passive intakes. If the filter is sucking from the bottom would it be better to have the ports at the top?

The light is an only a uncooled 315w CMH, so I should be OK with the second option as far as heat?

That wont be a problem at all.

6 so that the air will be sucked through the flowering plants canopies

Great advice everyone! Finally ditched the tent today installed the black and white poly and zipper. Next up installing passive intakes. I was thinking of using darkroom louvers and thought these would fit the boat. What do ya think?

Also, I may need to install 4" flanges. I found these but they are metal, which I hope won't be too heavy.

I will post a couple pics when the lights come on in a couple hours. I have the door open but the light blocked for now.

What i would do is take measurements of the door ... Then find some kind of cheap materiel at like Home Depot and make a cut out is the door and line it with mylar and can use ur closet door normaly and just put that on the inside Behind the door on the way out

Made a vent. Like the window exhaust for ac units..made out of 1x8 and a 6" hole saw.as tall as the sliding door and even fits snug in the rails of it. Its just not with me atm or id post pics.
