Disappearing seedling??

Has anyone ever had a seedling disappear? Here is what happened. I germinated my red dwarf seed in a paper towel and when it had about 1/16 of an inch root coming out i put it into my container (root down.) I did this very carefully and did not harm it in any way. I then put plastic wrap on top to contain moisture. So a few days has gone by, maybe 4, and still nothing so i gently brushed away the top layer of soil and still nothing, i brushed some more, still nothing. After the 3rd time of doing this i got curious and carefully started taking little by little out and searching for the seed to see what was wrong. it was nowhere to be found. i went through the soil 3 times and nothing. i did not water while the seed was in there so it didnt wash away accidentally. i saturated my soil first then after it drained i put the seed in.

anyone ever have this happen? I am just very curious as to where it went

Well obviously it couldn't have just disappeared. I would say it must have gotten stuck to you at some point, or you just didn't sift through the soil well enough (and didn't notice it).

too much moisture bro.. your seed got too moist and broke apart. seriously.. its happened to me before.

which is also why I don't keep my germination area too humid.. especially putting a plastic cup on top. Your just asking for fungus and bacteria bro.

You may wanna stop using that method.. and just put it in the soil without putting anything on top.

I'm being serious bro.. your seedling has basically fallen apart from too much moisture.

Good luck!
