Dinafem Power Kush

Been growing PK for 4 years. Here in Washington Mold is always a concern at end of budding. The stuff will mold in 2 days if you dont watch close. Being said, its worth it. I ask people if I need to grow something else and they always say no. I get 1 lb in a 4x4 under 1000 hps. I veg 4 weeks and it has finished in as little as 6 1/2 weeks and has gone as long as 8 weeks once. I go 12/12 when plants are about 12 inches because they will be 3 feet when done. I stake every crop because this stuff has wimpy stalks. I never feed hard anymore, use to use recommendation on ferts and slowly reduced and the plants seem to like about half nutrients. I love the easy of trimming this strain. PK is my mainstay and in other room I play with variety.

glad u bumped this! ill be starting some power kush from dinafem this week looking forward to it!
Be warned, she stinks to high heaven, even in veg. but top her and she yield heavy with super dank buds. Cheers.

^^^^^
My experience defiantly differs. My pheno is hearty like a mofo no wimpy anything, and is much more mold resistant than the grape god in the same environment. Through using an aero style hydro set she will steady hit about 20oz off a 600hps in a 4x4.

Cheers glad to hear it does good by you.

Grew Power kush (Dinafem) last year outside, it was a freebie with my main order which was Larry OG kush from
Cali connection. The Power kush exceeded the Larry OG in every aspect. One of the best smokes I've ever had. Everything I've grown from Dinafem was very good but I guess Power kush is my favourite.

Hello RIU,
OP please excuse thread intrusion, I just had to comment.

thanks for the stimulating read!

That PowerKush sounds like an awesome first seed to purchase.

I am a Noob,
I love RIU I learn so much info!
Thank You all for the Dinafem info.
about my little "hobby"!

I am cutting my teeth on bag seeds.

I am Mainlining 8 plants in Veg 48 days.
2 are being worked over that are 35 days old re shaped for more tops
10 plants 25 days old that I am just topping.

I did not plan to have a 100% germination rate and I think I have three weak plants out of 20.
No idea the strains or Sex.

I Veg under CFL 95 watt lights then into my tent under a 400 HPS for Flowering is the plan....

I have smoked way past 30 years, I grew outdoors in the 80's in upstate NY.
Very beginner stuff and way to long ago!

Let me say I have never flowered bud indoors or cloned a plant.

These two things I plan on learning starting next week when I put my first plants into Flower.
I am waiting on my tent now.

I will be killing the boys and Cloning the females back into my Veg to kick off a Perpetual grow.

wish me Luck!
Pics of my plants in Veg!

everyone has great things to say and Dinafem Bud it sounds awesome.

would you make it your 1st purchased seed?

(what would be your 1st choice plant to grow in Hydro Ebb n Flow setup if not the PK?).

Do they ship to the US?
is Dinafem safe to ship to Southeastern US?
is there a safer source or are they discreet enough?
How is Dinafems shipping?
is it well disguised?
Bless,
DZ

Just to add another strain from Dinafem I had success with was their Critical Jack. I had entered an online competition of sorts for auto-flowers and started all the auto freebies I had collected over the years. Although I had other auto's that were superior yielders, the critical jack auto was strongest auto I've ever encountered, though keep in mind this was probably my 2nd or 3rd time growing an auto. After seeing the quality of the flowers from the auto I decided to take a chance an order a pack of non-auto Critical Jack beans and was pretty impressed with the end results. I kept one of the cuts for another run to see the difference in running from clone and I was happy with the harvest. Keep in mind I have close to a dozen other breeders that I would prefer to buy seeds from but I thought I would share the information that I did like Dinafem's Critical Jack both in auto form and regular. I don't think I've ran anything else from them, but from my limited experience it seems they are at least a decent company that practices some good breeding regiments, I never encountered any herms in those fem'd beans. So without giving a full on strong recommendation for Dinafem, I have had a satisfactory experience with what I have run. Wish all my fellow farmers the best of luck....Peace!

LMAO! I just realized this old thread is still around! I figured I would add an update since it's been 3+ years since I made the original post. I'm still running this strain from the same original freebie seed that I started with! Thank God for cloning!!!!! I've experimented with a bunch of other strains over the last few years, and I like to keep a few different ones going in one room, but this is still my main strain. I still haven't found another strain that equals the overall potency/yield/taste/smell combination that this strain has. I've found a couple that were stronger, but they generally had significantly lower yields and were much more of a hassle to grow. I figured I might eventually start running into issues (hermies, etc) after cloning this over and over and over again, but so far the clones still grow just exactly like my first series of clones did. 3+ years later and this is STILL my favorite overall strain to grow and smoke (and it makes some absolutely vicious edibles!!).

I grew it, and will attest to it's durability, stability, & yield. It's potency was very good, about a 7 out of 10, but I found the flavor and type of high somewhat common and lacking. Could have been my pheno it was orangy earthy hashy. I have 2 more seeds of it left but I doubt I will use them. I love Dinafem and believe in them as a seed company, they have never left me feeling screwed. I thought the crit+ i grew from them was better and it yielded almost as much. I also liked the blue widow from them I grew better, it was a WW flavor BB color and lack of frost pheno strong on the cedar taste. I know that a lot of folks dont think anything of BlueWidow; take that comparison for what it is worth. For me yield is least concern of finish variables and this may be why I don't rate this higher. It won't leave you feeling betrayed but it is a 20 year old strain that I found to be lacking in originality or uniqueness. No one I supplied would complain about its quality, but they always chose whatever else I was offering.:peace:

I've had a few Orig. Amnesia phenotypes that people claimed were too strong.(They were my fav. pheno.)
They couldn't drive home after smoking it...

I grew that too for one cycle, buds weren't real dense and it stretched a lot. Decent high and awesome Honeysuckle/Vanilla tones to the flavor. Way too tall in my SOG tent to maintain canopy with other stuff I was keeping was main reason I didn't continue with it. I had Sleestack that blew it out of the water for Haze potency and that is why I discontinued.

Once again though I will say I have grown PK, Crit+,BW, and OA one offs from Dinafem and for not popping a bunch to find a pheno; there isn't a bad word I can say for the seed company. Dinafem is top notch in my book for stability and delivering on what they claim. Like anything else though buy a pack, pop them all, find a good pheno if you are serious. That is how to be completely fair to any seed company, and to yourself.

Strain: Power Kush (from Dinafem feminized seed).
Growth: Spectacular. I gave this strain 7 or 8 weeks of veg time and topped liberally up until the last 2 weeks of veg. When I went 12/12, the plant was approximately 18" tall and incredibly bushy. Flowers FAST, and is the only strain I have encountered yet that truly IS done at 7 to 8 weeks of flowering (as claimed by the breeder. usually they claim 8 and that means 10 to 11. Not with this one!!!!).
Nutes: I run the entire Fox Farm line up (including additives) for soil, and I feed exactly according to the manufacturers feeding schedule. Don't worry about burning. This strain can REALLY take the nutes!!! I also add a teaspoon of Cal-Mag to each gallon of water about every 4th feeding.
Lighting: Vegged under T8's and CFL's for the first 4 weeks and then under a 600-watt MH for 4 weeks. Flowered for 8 weeks under a 600-watt HPS.
Yield: 5.14 ounces!!! (dried, de-stemmed, and fully cured for 4 weeks). This one made Daddy REALLY happy!!
Bag Appeal: Very good. Big, thick, dense, sticky buds with lots of orange hairs and a nice coating of trich's. An ounce of this in a zip-lock baggie is quite impressive.
Smell: Skunk-dominant with very sweet undertones (almost a strawberry or citrus hint). Very pleasant and appealing.
Taste: Absolutely fantastic. Nice stout skunky taste with a very strong sweet/fruity aftertaste. Incredible in a freshly cleaned glass bong!!!
The High: OUTSTANDING!!!! Not a one-hit-wonder, but 2 or 3 hits on the ol' bong and I'm ripped for the next few hours. Smoke an entire bowl by myself and I'm devastated/pretty much incapable of anything but eating and laughing (and I've been smoking weed for over 30 years, so I'm no lightweight!!).
Comments: My new favorite strain:mrgreen:. Easy to grow and super easy to clone. Incredibly durable and able to handle heavy feeding. FANTASTIC yields!!!! I've now cloned this particular plant over 14 times (all started from a single freebie seed from Attitude --- I got really lucky and got a wonderful phenotype! Luck of the draw, I guess!) and so far all of them that have reached maturity yet have all yielded approximately 5 ounces. Plus me and my friends absolutely LOVE the high!!!
Hmmm.....Tastes good, smells good, yields good, stones the shit out of me, super easy to grow, and flowers/matures fast. Guess what is going to be the main/dominant strain in my future grows!?!?!?!?! I honestly cannot find ANY faults with this strain (or at least my pheno. But I've talked with others who have grown out this strain and their results were comparable). I don't want to sound like some kind of paid sales-weasle, but this strain just flat-out rocks!!!!!!!!!!bongsmilie
WoW ~ Great Report ! Dinafem's Line-up Looks Tasty indeed, especially the Strawberry Cough and Blue Hash Plant :-)_~

so how tall did these babies get? i got one with my order from attitude, and after hearing all good stuff, i am excited to get it in the soil! i am however growing with restrictions on height, so that makes me curious what the average size is...so i can decide what kind of methods to use to grow short and bushy. i already just use cfl's so that helps keeping them shorter....

It doesn't stretch much,1.5-2x on most pheno.
thats good to hear...my beans just got here. i am super excited to get them going. thanks for the info. i wish i could just grow the bastards to the roof, but im doing a stealth grow, for personal, so it has to be restricted. =(

Had a ton of trouble cloning it. Only one taker -- that made it outside of my useful parameters. It's too bad, I had high hopes -- it grows well/fast and it smells/looks great. Oh, well. Don't really know if it was my bad or no (aeroponic cloner). Still waiting for the harvest.
I had no issues cloning....got 8 of 8 to clone before I put to flower, and even got 2 more to root after they were in flower for aprx. 6 wks....it just took wayyy longer to take root, but no probs cloning here....

dude! great thread, and I too am a believer in the PK! I started my one seed, and took 8 clones, and now have a mother at a buddies house with ready and willing clones anytime I need em, so this too, is my main strain as of recently. I have grown a few different ones, but this one is mighty stable, very easy to grow, and takes to about any treatment you decide to use. I am very happy with it, works great with my short bushy style of growing, and others I have given a cutting of it always love it, and clone their clones, so I am the power kush equivalent of johnny appleseed out here on the west coast. keep her alive! lol
