Dilago goes growing (phototopic)

Howdy folks.

In this topic i will post pictures and excerpts of my current grows. After a couple of years of growing, my main principle is:

'The medium is for the plant, the plant not for the medium.'

So here we go!

My buddy had some cuts left over and i was lucky enough to be granted them! Namely Amnesia Haze, Super Shiva Skunk and Super Orange Glue. Since there were plenty of them, i dusted of the crates. I'm going to grow them hydro style by ebb and flood with dirt as the medium! I planted two cuts in each of the nineteen crates. After that i flooded 150 liter water (pH 5.5 and Ec 1.3) left it in there for a couple or hours and pumped it out. I got about seventy-five liters in return. To decrease the pH i use pH minus powder and the nutriment of choice is GHE Biosevia grow.

I didn't water the cuts from the top yet, long as they look happy i don't think they need it.

Amnesia Haze to the left, Super Shiva Skunk in the middle and right Super Orange Glue.

The light is 2 x 600 watts hps and maybe later i will add another 400 watts in the middle.

And before i forget: comments are appreciated!

Bye, bye, see you next time!

are they from seed? if so you need seperate pots for them. in experiments done in a book on breeding by ed rhosentile, they found tha you get females at one end and males at the other.
this was with photo strains and regular seed mind you. not sure if it affects femd seed

He says in his post that he got cuts from a friend....

I think that experiment was not done well. It sounds like bogus. I know plenty of people who have large pots with several plants in them. Never heard any problems (at least not about getting males/females)

I've done it before without issues too, but instead of soil i used rock-wool.

I think it's safe to say the cuts are starting to catch on.

Soon as i they grow a bit bigger i will top them.

Almost time to top the cuts and they're not even a week in there!

Except for lowering the lights a little each day, i have done nothing since i planted these cuts!

Yesterday i topped all of the bigger plants and made cuts from the Amnesia Haze. After that i poured 75 liters of water (pH 5.0 and Ec 1.3) into the leaking tray for the plants to drink the next couple of days. This morning i lowered both lights to the lowest point possible while trying to find a compromise between the plants in the middle and those on the side. Almost time to flip!

Note to self: Today the 26th of July 2020 i switched the clock to 12/1/2. I vegged the plants for 12 days, which may be a bit too long. Time will tell.

Day six of flowering.

Yesterday i poured 75 liters water with nutriment, pH 5.4 and Ec 1.3 (GHE BioSevia + BioBizz Fishmix.) and left in in there for the plants to drink the next couple of days. How much easier does growing get?

On the left side Amnesia Haze and Super Shiva Skunk and to the right Super Orange Glue.

Left.
IMG_5619.thumb.JPG.d3e9a41432d0c610ba1f2490646f5818.JPG

Right.
IMG_5617.thumb.JPG.d619d88ad7075ece4d49edf97b0e3a66.JPG

The plants to the right are filling up a little less nice but when they are done growing i can switch crates with others that perform better.

The thirteenth day of flowering.

Yesterday I pinched the highest branches and also the growth spurts, to hopefully slow down growth a bit. The day before yesterday i poured nearly a hundred liters of water into the d.i.y. leaking tray and left it for the plants to drink. The pH was brought down to 5.5 and the Ec adjusted to 1.2.

From left to right: Amnesia Haze and Shiva Skunk.

IMG_5648.thumb.JPG.dba73b496e45443719e6988bf77c0298.JPG

More Shiva Skunk and Super Orange Glue.

IMG_5646.thumb.JPG.f88e6b6e5c8b9e4d8e9fc55a62fb419d.JPG

The Super Orange Glue is obviously less bushy then the other two strains and is known to not yield as heavy. Ideally i probably should have planted more Super Orange Glue plants per square meter. Time will tell!

Super Shiva Skunk.

Dilago,
Sorry if this makes me sound dense, but I am not sure I understand how your system is ran.
You said it's E and F with soil as the medium, but that you are not adding water to the top of the soil.
So you are adding water the tray that the totes are sitting in and letting them soak it up?
Watering from below instead of from above??, as needed??

I run E and F. I flood for 2 minutes every 4 hours. I pump from an external reservoir, and allow gravity to return it. I use clay pellets as my medium.

I like the simplicity of your grow, just want to make sure I understand how it works.

Cheers,
WillieP

Hi WillieP, thanks for your reply. You understood correctly.

I pour water in the tray that the crates (with drilled holes in the bottom) are in. Then i just leave the 75 liters in there for the plants to drink the next couple of days. When the floor is dry i flood again.

Looks like everything is dialed in!

The twenty-seventh day of flowering.
Since i switched a tad bit early, i didn't water the plants for a week to keep the stretching to a minimum.
IMG_5686.thumb.JPG.836e027d8b711c4d5641e5f408e726eb.JPG
Furthermore i spun a net across the left and the right side of the canopy to make sure them jealous women all get enough light.

Obviously Amnesia!

The way i am growing them is one of the easiest methods if you ask me. When the floor is dry i poor another 75 liters into the tray etc. It takes the plants about 48 hours to drink it all. Next grow i might get a bigger watertank so i can pour 200 liters into the tray at once. Then i can stay away for a week. With a flooder it is possible to stay away for a whole grow if the watertank is big enough.

The thirty-fifth day of flowering.

Since i'm growing three different strains in the same leaking tray, it's inevitable that some yellow out a bit. In this case it's the Super Shiva Skunk.

Every four to five days i fill a tank with seventy-five liters of water, add pH minus until i reach pH 5.5. Since i leave the water in the tray and the pH runs up, i go a little lower then i go when watering from the top. After that i add Floranova bloom until the Ec is 1.3. Then i pour the water in the leaking tray and i am done!

The forty-fourth day of flowering.
I poured 75 liters in the tray, pH 5.4 and Ec 1.2. Since i leave the water in the tray for the plants to drink, i keep the pH lower then i would watering from the top because it runs up. Anyway, enough talking, here come the pictures!

The fifty-fourth day of flowering.

The most recent watering i gave them only acidified water (pH 5.5) and they are already entering the final stages! Time flies when you're having fun!
