Digital image signatures

I didn't see a "security" thread so I'm posting here. I live in a legal state so I'm not as concerned with this, but for those of you who are posting pics of your illegal grows it is probably in your best interest to at least be aware of the signature created by your phone/digital camera.

Thanks for the link. The topic of my thread is not image meta data unlike the post you provided a link to. The topic of this post is a method of matching images to the source camera via imperfections in the sensor, spots on the lens etc. Wiping meta data will not prevent matching of posted pics to the camera of origin.

Interesting post Growy.

In the U.K., even where ALL cannabis related growing/using is illegal, I cant see them spending time and money comparing pics of a 2 plant grower who has removed all EXIF data to try and find me. If I posted both pics on here, under the same username, it ain't rocket science to guess I took them both, and probably with the same camera. Finding who I was from my username and logins would be easier.

If I was a terrorist, kiddy fiddler or some sort of kidnapper I would use your method. I am NOT, I am instead a forum member who grows a couple of plants.

A slight bit of paranoia is good when growing cannabis, it reminds you to be careful. You can however be too paranoid. I think going to the extreme you mentioned is going towards the too paranoid end of the spectrum.

My theory on it is that if the government is taking that much of an interest in me, then I am already in deep, deep shit anyway, and probably nothing to do with cannabis.

That's fair, and you're likely right. My thought is that individuals can decide how paranoid they want to be, I'll just share the information.

In my case I'm in a legal state so I'm not very concerned with this at all.

Still federally illegal, you should still be concerned. It's not the states collecting all our online interactions.
