Day 41

My 4 babies are still alive!!! I'm still not sure on one of the plants as of last night, and i may have one hermie plant (not sure though)... 2 100% females w/ large buds starting to form... 2mor will 2 weeks of flowering, so things are getting pretty far along... The 2 "stunted" plants originally have really taken off, one of them a 100% confirmed female that is taller than the rest of them... It just started growing like 2-3 inches a day in the last week... Kind of nice, more of an even canopy now...

A few bottom fan leaves (nothing past the 3rd node) have some small slits/holes on them, but i've yet to find any bugs.. I'm going to inspect really good tonight.. I still think it's due to them being 2 feet tall now and need some side/lower lighting.. Haven't had to tie any of them down yet, so that's a big plus...

Sorry for the lack of updates, been away doing some ninja style harvesting of some "wild weed"... We get a lot of it growing around here, just 95% of it is seeds and trash.. A buddy of mine was pissed w/ the system and i threw the idea out to him and he was OK w/ doing the "work" at his house.. 4 days later we've compiled 8 mason jars of dried buds.. each jar full about half way, some a bit more... There are seeds, but also some nice buds w/ milky/amber trichomes and red/orange hairs.. This worked out awesome b/c I got a chance to help trim them up.. Man, it's a lot of work.. 3 plants and it took us atleast 25 man hours to get them all trimmed up... Most of them were obviously ready to be picked and didn't require more than a day or two to hang dry.. The stems starting to snap after 24 hours.. We're "burping" them 3 times a day, leaving them exposed to air for 30 minutes each time.. The smoke is not quite where I'd like it to be, but I know it has the potential.. Some of the smaller, dryer buds we've smoked VIA a glass bowl and got a nice body buzz... taste wasn't the greatest, but after some curing I think it will be nice.. We'll see what the final weight ends up being, but it looks like possibly 2-3 ounces...

I'm watering today... more updates later this evening...

Ok, down to just 2 plants... females... Mary and Jane.. :bigjoint:

I used a tbspn per gallon foliar feeding on the plant that just showed male, as a test to see how it reacted... it's fan leaves appear greener, and perkier (sp?) after just a few hours...

I think i should spray the ladies, but would hate to hurt them... i'm going to see what the male looks like in the morning and then chop chop... any suggestions?

Yeah it took me a heck of a lot longer then I thought to trim up a girl. The WW will take me no doubt 5 hrs. It will be much better when its fully cured.:blsmoke:

Congrats on the twin girls. Best of luck to you with Ms.Mary and Ms.Jane. :eyesmoke: You should use Molasses too, every watering. Look it up and read up on it. Black Strap UNSULPHERED Molasses. My girls seem to really love it.

The test male that i drenched w/ the foliar feeding seemed to really like it... it's leaves are much greener than the two females... I've now read though that you want to stop foliar feeding around the 2nd week of flowering especially avoiding bud sites, which are forming now on the females...

Guess the foliar feeding is a punt... oh well, i'll remember that for the next grow...

Just got finished making some cannabutter w/ the leaves and stems of the male plants i pulled (4 of 'em)... It was a total of about 65g, I had it all in paper bags for about a week, giving it air a couple times a day..

I used about 4 cups of water, 1 lb (4 sticks) of butter, the 65g and simmered it on the lowest possible setting (ocassionally turning it up a bit) for about an hour... Afterwards, I strained it out into another bowl... Used a potato masher to smash the leaves and stems to squeeze out whatever was in them..

It's in the fridge now.. I see the small layer of butter on top starting to form.. ... We'll see what it looks like in the morning.. No work for me 2mor, so if all goes well I plan on eating some eggs, bacon and toast (w/ the butter) for breakfast... Should be interesting.. Might not be much THC in the males, but hopefully the 65 dried grams gave it enough...

I just don't know how much to eat... lol... start small i guess...

Ok, we got a pic... both ladies have white hairs exploding all over them... This HPS light really kicks ass!!! I will definetely look to upgrade to a larger size or add another one in the future!!

Still on about a every 4-5 day watering schedule... pots seem to be ready for water about that time and they have yet to show any visible damage from going that long between waterings... Each lady sucked up a gallon of water 2 days ago (1 tbspn of big bloom mixed in)...

On a side note, was able to seperate the butter this morning... Tipped bowl over and the butter on top got a small crack in it, and all the water underneath just poured right out.. A lot easier than i though.. Not as green as i would have liked, not sure if that means it won't be very potent, but we're about to find out soon enough... I will definetely use less water and more scraps next time...

Here's the pic, and i'll post some updates after eating the butter... if i'm able to... haha...

Cannabutter was junk... I don't know if i didn't cook it long enough or what, but it didn't do anything... I just made some toast, lathered them up with a ton of the butter and then spread peanut butter on top... it was pretty tasty, but i ate 3 pieces and it didn't do anything..

That was 6 hours ago... I had a slight fit of laughter about 30 minutes afterwards that brought tears to my eyes (which is unusual), but nothing other than that...

Either it needed cooked longer, or the male leaves and stems just didn't have enough THC in them...

Mary and Jane have started to slow their upward climb towards the light and are now producing more hairs daily.. Mary is 20 inches tall and Jane is about 27 inches tall.. I'm afraid to use it w/ my next watering as it is scheduled to be just straight water, and i don't want to get some nasty buildup in the soil at this point... but i'm also afraid of mixing the Big Bloom w/ the molasses.... Any suggestions?

3 bottom nodes are useless at this point as i haven't managed to install some side lighting... I may have to rig up the 2 shop light fixtures i have on the side of the wall... I'm trying to build some DIY light fixtures out of a 2x4 and some y-splitters for some CFL bulbs... Should have something fixed up by this weekend...

Made a second batch of cannabutter yesterday (lol, had to try again) w/ about 1.5 ounces of shake I had compiled from the last year or so and 1.5 ounces of some mids i bought a large ammount of and was tired of smoking.... All that to a 1b of butter (4 sticks)... Instead of only simmering for an hour (previous attempt), i simmered for 4.5 hours.. I used a 100% cotton t-shirt (couldn't find cheesecloth) to strain it this time as well... Recommended ammount is about 1 oz per 1b of butter i believe, so this may have been overkill... we shall see...

Mary and Jane :bigjoint: are doin well... Realized i may have to water more often now as they started droopin' a bit last night.. but I watered them w/ straight water and they're nice and perky again..

The hairs continue to explode.. No vertical growth in the last 3 days.. Seems like a good thing to me b/c they are focusing on bud production now i would figure... Top 2-3 nodes are all tangled w/ hairs.. it's a lovely sight.. i like indoor a lot more than outdoor... haha...

Hey, just started following your thread yesterday and just caught up. I just started growing about 2 weeks ago in a somewhat similar situation as you, and this journal has helped greatly. I'm running a 250 fluorescent right now and plan on getting a 1000 hps as soon as the funds are available. I hope everything turns out great and cant wait to see the final product.

Hello PurpleMan, Glad to have you here. Depending on the size of your room a 600W is the most efficent if used in the right size room. Best of luck. I run a 1000w light setup only cause it was free. LOL

I'm glad to hear the good news. I do injoy the indoor a lot more then outdoor especially since I live north we only get premature plants... POST SOME PICS:bigjoint:

Thanks, glad you stopped by... This was my first go of things indoors, and RIU helped me out a lot... the only place i really got my information...

yea, post some pics. and how was the 2nd round of cannabutter?
I'll get some pics up 2nite when lights come back on... The larger/taller lady seemed very light last night when i picked her up, so I went on ahead and gave her some more water... w/ 1 tbspn of molasses mixed in...:-P

as far as the cannabutter, it was OK... I only tried a few spoonfuls, waiting for another "free" day where I can eat a larger ammount of it...

3 weeks into flower.. Had to raise the light for the first time in about a week as they slowly grew to less than a foot away from the light.. Fed on Monday w/ some molasses and they seem to have taken well to it.. The leaves seem a bit thicker 2 days after feeding the molasses..

I'm leaning towards this bagseed I used for this grow is the Lemon Skunk strain.. Earlier in it's life (weeks 2 to 5) it smelled strong of skunk... Now it appears as though the hairs/buds are turning a yellowish hue... No real big buds yet, but the hairs are multiplying rapidly.. Hopefully i'll be able to get a close up of them tonight...

W/ winter coming on, i'm noticing a drop in humidity inside the room.. Instead of the usual 50-60% humidity, it's more so around 40-45% now... I will continue to monitor, if it gets much drier than that I will have to take some measures to raise the humidity..

I plan to germinate/sprout 6 babies around week 6-7 of flowering.. That way the babies can grow under the flouresents for about two weeks, then harvest the first grow, clean the room out and get the new batch under the HPS...

Have not 100% decided on what strains I want to shoot for this go around... But here's what i'm leaning towards at the moment.. If I got w/ feminized seeds (highly likely), I will probably only plant 6 plants this time instead of the 8 i originally planted on this grow...

White Widow feminized
Mauie Wauie feminized
Master Kush feminized
Super Skunk feminized
Northern Lights feminized

Whatcha' think sirsmoks? Pick 3 out of 5, i'll grow 2 of each... throw in a different strain than what i listed if ya' want...:-P

White Widow, Master Kush and I would say either Cinderella 99 or Critical Mass! FYI C-99, Bubbaliscious and Northern Lights are very low odor strains.
