alright the problem was the question was about what makes the difference between hydro bud and just bud... and the key word is soilless= hydroponic. not the latin word hydro and ponics but hydropics in modern day by definition is "Hydroponics is a method of growing plants using mineral nutrient solutions, in water, WITHOUT SOIL."

and to knourgro was that directed to me or him?

if im wrong i would surley like to know. but i deffintly understand hydroponics and jumped in when i saw missinformation being given
No, you are correct. What I was saying wasnt meant to be a contradiction, just another way of saying it. Of course hydro bud only means hydroponically grown weed , but there are a lot of people who dont know that simply call kind bud "hydro"

hydro
A prefix added to the start of a word. Indicates that "water" or "liquid" modifies the word. Created to expand meanings. Can be used with many words to form new words.
Jesus this is pretty basic info. I have to agree with keepitcoastal, idoiocracy the movie coming true to life.

Thats correct, the firat paragraph, it has nothing to do with the lighting or blah blah, only the method of feeding and root zone substrate.

My hdro deffinition is simply derived from its interpretation from latin, hence saying what the word means. Its practice though is slightly different. There is always a disparity between a words deffinition and its actual usage. Refer to Neitze for further clarity.

Thats the best "deffinition" I can come up with. Explanations are just examples of hydroponic applications, not a deffinition of the word. Catch my drift?

I used to have a close friend that claimed to know all about growing weed and his definition of hydro was weed grown indoors with chemical fertilizers... He was and still is one of those types that you cant tell them the truth but they already know their truth so they tell you that you are full of shit and wrong...

Alright, let me clarify. I was asking the original poster if his friend was refering to green bud as hydro as ive heard a few people call it that. I think its stupid to call it hydro. To say it says anything about me is garbage. Thats why i got so mad.

Well, I understand that. When I lived in FL in the '70s we had two choices but usually only
could get the latter. Sensi or Mex. Then exposed to CA, Sensi became Greenbud (is everywhere)
So, now it seems that in some parts of the world, at some levels of the procurement chain,
Greenbud is now Hydro to be different from wild pot (with seeds?) Bush buds. Cool. Seems less
about the actual difinition of hydroponic gardening.

I think here it's more to do with the general ignorance of the pot smoking population of Australia as most of them believe that when they smoke anything that is great or even in some cases just smells strongly that it must have been hydro... or at least that has been my experience hanging around stoners here...

WOW this thread turned into a nice little debate now didn't it :P
yeah i guess the guy i was talking too was talking about 'Green Bud'

@keepitcoastal
don't worry man i know for a fact that Hydro is without soil (even though most people i know think it doesn't matter) some people though are so ignorant and think there always right, that's why i always check on here after i hear something.
One of the most common Myth's i hear is that smoking/chewing stem makes you sterile LMAO
