Did my plant die before it even got started?

The first picture is from 21st of March, which is a couple of days after planting it after having it in water for some hours. It had just sprouted, but didn't sprout like any other seed I've planted, the seed had kind of pushed itself to the surface and then opened up exposing it's cotyledon.

The second picture is from the 23rd of March, and the leaves appear to have fallen over, and appear more yellow than last time, doesnt show in the picture. The lower part that used to be white has now turned into a pale green/yellow. The part that was touching the soil was yellow/orange, I carefully lifted it up a bit and rested it on a piece of perlite to keep it away from the moist soil.

What happened to my seed, does anyone know? Also is there any chance of it recovering?

It looks like you overwatered it and may have drown it
Usually a good light would turn it greener
Did you mess with the sprout and damage the tap root?
I didn't move it until after I found it lying on the soil, looking a bit rotten, at that point I carefully placed a piece of perlite under the leaves. I shouldn't have moved it enough to damage the taproot.

I think you're right about it being too wet, ugh, I always do this...

Be alright man, just part of the learning process, most of us have done it, if you have to just start over
