Designing new room.. Which lights will not affect the plants growth...

Hello there everybody... welcome to my thread.. lol..

Just a quick Q...

I'm designing my new room and a question came up... but searching a question about lights here at RUI is a pretty big list and it was difficult to filter through them to find my answer, so if this is a repeat I apologize...

In my new room, the lights will obviously be on timers.. however sometimes I go into my current room and both areas are dark... I dont really want to turn on the rooms original lights on.. ie the switch on the wall... cause I dont want to screw up the dark time for the plants...

Is there a type of light I can use that shouldnt affect the plants too much? Shouldnt be on for long, but if I want to be in there to check on the girls, clean, mix up some nutrients.... I dont want to be using my blackberry flashlight to see around.. lol

Would a white led strip light have minimal impact on the plants? a regular incandescent light bulb, 60w or 40w maybe?

Im not sure what part of the light spectrum has the least impact on the plant... if there is a bulb with that specific spectrum, it should work in theory? yes no?

thanks for the comments and or suggestions...

Room is 8'l x 10'w x 8'h

Use any green light, even those green party cfl's...Actually those will do good for your space, they're pretty bright, and they'll have no affect on your plants. The green light is reflected off the plant rather than absorbed, that's why the leaves are green.

this place is so fucking great! When I find myself explaining something about plants to my friends, most of the knowledge fine tuned here at RUI, they think I am some sort of plant guru.... meanwhile I know a little, but I learn something new everyday and thankfully, I tend to learn from the mistakes I make along the way.... ( now a moment for those seeds that came all the way from amsterdam, only to crack out of the seed and then die due to lack of temp knowledge at early stages... tear... you will be missed.. Your sisters are freakin bushes though.. ;) )

Thanks for the information everybody... greatly appreciated...

If I can ever help with a Q.... I'm am electrician... Cheers!
