Density+That dispensary cannabis look

What's up gals/girls. I've been growing sativas (Super Lemon Haze + Cinderella 99) for a few grows now. I gave a friend some C99 clones to grow himself. The finished product is about the same on both but his has a different look:

My buds are bigger where his look smaller and more dense. It also looks like his sugar leaves wrap around the bud.
I guess my question would be, is it a nutrient thing or do the sugar leaves recede like that with more time under the lights?

I check trichomes with my loupe and usually harvest when I see a wave of amber coming around.
I use Dyna-Gro: Grow, Protek, Bloom (few weeks into flower), MOAB (1/4-1/2tbs), Big Bud (weeks 2-4) and just started using sulfer free blackstrap molasses. I water every other day and feed every other watering. My plants look great, the cannabis is awesome, I'm just curious as to what it takes to get that "look".

SLH day 52ish 1100w HPS (Super Lumens):

Another stupid question I'm going to get out of the way. Do you feed every watering? I don't measure ppm (is that my next step to start min/maxing?), just feed according to the dyna-gro flow chart. Never burnt a plant, maybe just a hint of yellow on leaf tips. I'd love to push those SLH.

Does he dry trim and you wet trim your plants? Could explain the small sugar leaves drying around the bud.

Does he have a higher/lower wattage or LST/Scrog his plants? Could explain the different bud structure.

I feed everytime in coco, I cant answer for soil.

If youre having good results with the chart, do whatever you want regarding the ppm levels, you will need a meter to measure the point at which your plant doesnt like it.

That being said, I wouldnt recommend burning your plants mid flower to find its high point. I would use the meter to measureably bump up your feeding suggested by dyna grow, if thats what youre currently going by. ( I dont follow my manufacturers feed chart)

Edit: Maybe a long shot, but does his get vac sealed?

I wet trim then it goes on the quick dry racks. At about 60%RH it goes into mason jars with boveda 62%RH packs. His wattage is 400hps and mine is 1100. He says he line dries then fine trims. Are you thinking they wrap around while it's being line dried? He says it does it before he even harvests, then hardens up when he dries/cures.

I trimmed wet for a couple years, until I just chopped n hung 1 plant as an experiment. I never trim wet anymore, my shit smells 100 times better, looks 100 times better and tastes 100 times better now that I line dry the entire plant. And honestly, I think its easier

Yea i dried on my rack very similar conditions to you, very fast, less smell, bigger bud tho.

Same plant bud the other half of it. Dried hanging w/ leaves on until dry then trim.
Buds lighter and more dense. Smell was stronger also.

Atleast when you dry it before trimming, you'll have something to smoke on while your trimming...

I've noticed less Trichomes stick to my scissors when I trim dry bud

I hang and trim dry too FYI. Did it a couple years ago and it's just a ton better trimming dry than wet IMO

whenever me and friends have shared cuts. Normally the buds come out slightly different I just assumed different environments different product.

why don't you do some reading on it before saying anything if your ill informed. I hit mine the other day with 3/4tsp, and all I see is happiness in my flowering plants. a lot o growers are using it. even the OP mentioned he uses it in the 1st post.

but thanks for your concern in the matter.

Why use MOAB when you can just use mono potassium phosphate? That's literally what MOAB is. Look at the NPK ratios and the "derived from". 0-52-32. The 0% N and near identical NPK implies the mono-ammonium phosphate only exists in trace amounts in MOAB and that it's almost 100% mono-potassium phosphate.

That leaf wrap around and tightness is from rolling the buds when about 25% dry. Gently roll(not squeeze) the trimmed bud in the palm of your hand and thats how it ill look dry/cured.

Mine look like that without rolling all the trichome heads off my buds.
All you have to do is hang it upside down to dry without trimming until it's ready for jars.

To get dense flowers you need more light. less light flowers further from light are airy as the flowers at the top of the plants that near the light are dense unless your light wattage is to week. you also get a much more superior flower when you have more Watts. look at a plant under CFL and a plant under a 1000. its like peasant food and a gourmet dinner.
