Dementia and Marijuana

Basically, we think my dad has dementia, we are yet to here from his brain scan, but im pretty certain it is. Now i want to help him out, i dont want to see him chucking meds down his kneck, his on enough as it is for stomach alsers (spelling) etc.

So i had a quick browse on internet, and found that theres alot of studies that prove that it should help dementia as It has been shown that people with dementia have decreased melatonin levels (whatever that is) yet within the first hour of smoking marijuana this increase melatonin levels by 4000%!

Has anyone got dementia on this site and uses marijuana to help them?

I really want to help my dad out, i dont like to see him go through it, its heart breaking to be honest.

Sorry to hear about your Dad....Hopefully it is not what you think and his brain scan comes back clean.....What I would suggest is a small edible dose to start and just see what is does for him.....Honestly it isn't going to hurt him as long as you trust the source. Of course it still needs to be his decision though...good luck mate.

Melatonin is a chemical that helps relax you, and eventually put you to sleep.

Cats are full of it, which is why they sleep a lot... you can find it in stores now in cans, called 'Sizzurp' and the 'Purple Drank'.

As for cannabis increasing it, I'm guessing certain indica strains would be best suited for the task.

Wish I could be helpful but i havent a clue I just know what it is................best of luck to you man...............

Yeh, my dad is pretty much constantly stressed, and he has alot of mood swings lately, i mainly want him to stop drinking, i dont mind a few drinks, but he goes over the top when he does. Im not sure if edibles would be good for someone who has never tried cannabis, iv heard there very strong, so i dont want to give my dad the bad idea of weed. I may sound like im jumping the gun, but he's changed so much, i know there something definatly wrong.

Let's hope he doesn't have it, but marijuana should definitely help. There is nothing, quite honestly, more relaxing then marijuana edibles. That shit is good. :)

haha would be awesome if he would convert! Have my own grow op and get full size plants, have my bongs just sitting out in my room, HEAVEN! I just hope theres someone on hrere that has had experience of this! Will post when he gets the results, lets hope its soon!

I'm sure it's not that he believes the drug war propaganda that the weed does horrible things to you, it's probably just that it's illegal. :)

Thats the thing, i was talking to my mum about weed, and we where saying that its a completely different world that we've been brought up in, they got into alcohol, i smoke weed, Im pretty sure the illegalitly is an issue, but he's never been shown a good side to drugs, But when this is all over, and the results are out, im basically going to say how weed can help if he is diagnosed, and just say iv been looking into it, and iv been smoking for 2 years and hasnt changed me that much as a person.

Hmm, I dont know what to say, Why are you going out fo your way to be funny, on a subject that isnt remotly funny, grow up, seriously.

get out of my thread, im not dumb, i just dont find you funny, im fed up of being nice, so please, Fuck off.

hey man with all seriousness i would not depend on forum advice (even the most expirienced) for giving a man with brain damage a psychoactive drug. It might do nothing, and it might cause serious damage. Just some advice from someone who is studying biology and some expirience with medicine. I would say go to a meidicinal forum with a resident neurologist for a real answer. and wish you good luck with the results lets hope this discussion is for nothing :)

I have, the question has been asked before, and theres views from people who dont like marijuana, and there saying it shouldnt be used, but majority is pointing towards it can help. It just hasnt been tested on humans properly, most of the stuides are on animals, but there was a link someone gave me onto a news page, and they are saying it can help. But its always better to get someone who uses it and has first hand experience.
