Delayed flowering, dried pistils.. (have pics)

Hi to all,

I am just a little puzzled over my current flowering situation. At the time of these pics the girls were at least 2wks into 12/12 and they are now at 3wks and 3 days, so 24 days of 12/12 and they don't look much different now. No fresh, white, thick pistils.. only these ones that are a bit sad.

My temps might be a bit high. At about 76 - 82F. The plants are in DWC. There are 3 Burmese Kush clones and 1 Mako Haze clone in the same DWC unit. Admittedly the mako is an outdoor strain and i have her inside under LED and in hydro. I have a total of 300W LED light. The buds in the pics (Mako and Buku) are under a 120W and 2 other plants are under a 180W. Those plants are doing well and are at just over 2wks of 12/12 so i hope to see healthy growth of buds happening.

I did discover a light leak from my veg chamber, which may have influenced the onset of flowering. The night time temps may have been a little high in the first week or so, at around 78 - 80F. Hopefully now they are more toward 74F. I added a fan inside to circulate air.

I would pretty much just like to know how delays are caused in the flowering cycle and if I can expect a healthy harvest now that light leaks are taken care of and i am attempting to keep temps below 80F at all times. Humidity at about 50% on average.

The first 2 attached pics are the Burmese Kush, and the second 2 are Mako Haze which is clearly more sativa. The genetics are quite robust. I harvested the mother plant today incidentally, and other clones are outside flowering happily. Even the Buku mother had strong pistil formation early in flowering. I am hoping they will not go hermie on me. I am going to add a high watt CFL to my light mix to see if the added spectrum will help the more outdoor sativa dominant Mako. As well as just boost overall light values.

Any input will be greatly appreciated and +rep to helpful advice.

Im still a noob but I think your light leak probably was the problem. Ive heard that it delays flowering and is caused by hormone stress. The plant switches its grow hormones to bloom hormones with the switch to 12/12 and then the light leak fucks that up and the plant is not sure what hormones to produce. I hope you don't get a hermaphrodite from it. good luck

Thanks Cannabis Smoke, i believe you are right. I have a hunch as to other factors that could have caused it. I'll see what happens when I add an extra CFL. They seem to be a little better with the light leak taken care of. Such a noob thing of me to miss.. oops.. but its cool i'm doing this coz i LOVE it, not for a massive yield. Although a massive yield would be THE TITS! Item 9 baby..! **pls excuse, very stoned.. lol :)

Ok so i had to take some pics of these babies which are outside. They are Mako Haze clones from the same mother. Except they are outside and in the ground. I don't have an exact figure on flowering time so far but they are growing exceptionally well! Beautiful pistil formation and trichomes even..

As for the ones inside under LED. (Which i have now modified into LED and a 400W HPS). They aren't looking anything like them. I have come to another conclusion regarding the cause, and it seems that over-fertilizing had a large role to play.

So the pictures uploaded. The first 4 are the outdoor Mako, and the last 3 are the indoor Mako. Clear difference. So i am going to flush with pH adjusted water for 2 or 3 days then keep things diluted slightly.

Just switched to flowering today for my 3 ladies. I have a veg cab right next to the flowering tent.. how do you keep the light from leaking in the top of the tent where the exhaust fan is? this worries me.

I would reckon just use some form of ducting to shield the opening from direct light. You don't want any leaks.
