Dehumidifier?

Hey guys how is it rollin'?
So I'm in gear preparation right now for my next and first grow consisting of more than one lady,in this one there are going to be 6 of them in a 5x5 tent.
My question is,how necessary a dehumidifier really is, cuz I know that with one plant I didn't have to use one,and didn't have any humidity issues (RH never went above 70).

any feedback on this is appreciated, thanks.

If you live in a really humid area then a dehumidifier might be the better option since you can get mold from the high rh and potentially ruin your crop.

yea I guess that's why they get these fuckers from the first place haha,I get thats probably best to just get one,but since they really aren't cheap around here I want to know just how crucial it really is,what would a critical RH level be?

I usually like to run more lights which will make my air conditioner turn on and it dehumidifies my grow. I have my dehumidifier set to 70% but I really only want 50 to 60% the dehumidifier isn't my main work horse for humidity. Powdery Mildew is a bigger concern to me than bud rot because I clone my strains so I don't want them disease stricken. With my setup I am typically adding back humidity even though it is 70+% humidity here most the time. This is why I haven't gone with a mini split and instead I stick with my through the wall a/c unit.

I keep watching the humidity in my house too, when humidity is above 50%, I run dehums, I dont want mold in the house and if you keep it in the 50% range you are good. I have found that 50% is a good all around RH to have for a perpetual grow, if I have a lot of big buds in the room I ll run some more dehums to bring it down to 40%, generally I am happy with 50%. But hell 70% is asking for trouble. I never ever want to see botrytis in an indoor garden, just means you are doing something wrong, ok some strain such heavy yielding that it might be inevitable but I grow low yielding tasty strains anyway.

Yes if you run a a/c it will take the place of a dehumidifier. Just remember a dehumidifier will raise your temp in your room . A portable a/c works nice with a 5x5 setup. I like about 60-70% during veg and no higher than 40% during flower. It takes a little tuning but you will get it right.

good point, i run a dehum at lights off in the flower room in the wet winter months (on a timer opposite to my lights) and I run a dehum in the air intake room (which is the sun room in my house) so it keeps the windows from getting all fogged up anyway, if needed I also run a dehum in the basement, in the wet months I ll run 2=3 dehums 24-7 at this time of the year I run 1, sometimes none.
