Dehumidifier question

Hello. I'm running 2 dehumidifiers in my room and I have 2 mini split ACs to cool the room. I know these mini splits can dehumidifi the room. When I turn the unit to dehumidifier mode it obviously gets hot. Should I be able to use the dehumid mode without my separate dehumidifiers and keep my room below 50%?

2nd question. If using my small dehumidifers where is the best placement for them? Up higher off the ground of on the floor? My plants are about 7 feet tall and my dehumidifers are about 9" taller then my pots.

Any questions please ask.

Thank you!!

No the mini splits wont do all the dehumidification. Sorry man. If you have two mini splits you probably need four 70 pt dehus, or two 180 pt. and from what ive always seen done with the height is at plant level or higher. I mean usually you have to have them up high enough to let them drain with the hose you drilled into the side with a step bit, so theyre up at plant level already.

Got it! Thank you!

I would say put your dehumidifier as high as you can because humid air is less dense and will rise. I agree with alien that the mini's alone won't handle all the dehumidification.

Yeesh, no. Warm air rises, cool air sinks. Humidity will work to even itself out, it is not heavier than air.

Most dehuey units are air conditioning units tuned to create excess condensation. They pull moisture out of the air, then warm that air back up with the hot exhaust from the compressor. This completes the dehumidification cycle. That hot exhaust can fry plants so it is a good idea to mount this type of dehuey so the hot air doesn't blow on the canopy.

Since I use water cooling, I run water cooled air handlers in my bloom room. These remove heat by reducing air temperature, and since the cold water passing through them is below dewpoint, they're also very effective at condensating midair from the air.

Two of these water cooled air handlers can fill a 20 gallon tub with condensate in a 12 hour day cycle. It's so much water I recycle it back into the grow.

I'm pretty sure there is nothing special about the dehumidify mode of a mini split.

Correct me if I'm wrong but this feature must only be on inverter models. Instead of running full blast say part of the time to reach a rated temp... it will run at a lower speed for a higher duty cycle.

You mean more dense.
No, I meant less dense. Water vapor molecules are lighter than both nitrogen and oxygen. In other words, humid air is going to have less heavy nitrogen and oxygen molecules, and lighter hydrogen and oxygen in its place.
