Dehumidifier for a window?

Looking for a small dehumidifier that could be placed in a corner of the window, or wall mountable, OR even something to suction cup to the window for my window grow.

My humidity is usually 60-80% average every day, though some days it drops to 50%

Looking for some options, for the future, when flowering time arrives to keep things below 60%

What about Those Silica Air Dry Things?

Has a small fan and absorbs moisture... Couple of those in the window? They are small.

The thing is I don't want to reduce humidity for the entire house, I just want that area to be drier.

I have a heater and a fan for that area, but looking for some options.

how big of an area are you talking about? is it isolated? because you cannot reduce the humidity in one corner of a room without actually reducing humidity in that room air moves so does moisture in the air. i have room where i run 2 mid size dehums and i keep the door closed and tent fluctuates between 50-55, outside the room in my house its 70+ so consider that but small units don’t do much usually and with air exchange from the rest of the house that just would be useless imo

A 2x4 area that's also 6 feet tall.

Yeah I realize that it's hard to control a single area, this has mini blinds that cover the window also.

Suggestions?

There's no cheap way to solve the dehumidifier option. After tons of research, I settled on midea. Hope you have less of a headache about this one than I did, bro.

The smallest dehumidifiers that actually work well to reduce humidity are the 20 pint-compressor models. Just search amazon for 20 pint dehumidifier and you'll find a range of different brands. I've had Homelab and GE models and both worked well and lasted a long time. You will be AMAZED at how much water they pull from your air. FYI, a window mounted air conditioner also dehumidifies during the summer months, so you may find you only need to dehumidify during the winter and you might even need to humidify during the summer.

You keep your house at 60-80% humidity? God that sounds awful. But yeah like everyone said you can’t really just dehumidify a small area. Best bets to just pick up a 50pint/day dehumidifier. $100-$150 they’re not to big, about the size of a mid size pc case.

Maybe this isn’t an option for ya. But man I sure wouldn’t waste my time with that window. Seriously doubting that you’ll ever make it to flower to have to worry about humidity. There’s lots of reasons, the main one being that giant light blocking building directly across from ya.

Agreed. Get a tent and a light. You'll most likely be more disappointed by the turnout, than if you grew in a 2x4 tent.

No this is San Francisco, it's pretty much humid all the time so dehumidifying is the key priority here. :mrgreen:

I'm a voice actor and the larynx likes to have 60-75% humidity.

It doesn't get very hot in here so I like the extra humidity.

In fact I don't like it any less than 50%.

I can appreciate that. But sometimes you gotta be realistic, weed so cheap nowadays, I’m sure you could buy weed cheaper than what it’s gunna cost for you to grow a few gram plants there. I wholeheartedly hope I’m wrong

Like a grow light?? Well that’s good, but even so why not just grow under your light and not in the window. Just s corner of your place, cabinet grows can be pretty cool as well…

The grow light is going in the window.

Plus I just spent the last few hours insulating and adding reflective surface to my window.

I'm going to hang the grow lights which is the perfect size for this area.

I got myself a Maglong 2000W Equivalent (225 actual watts) full spectrum , nice rectangular light. With a dimmer and Samsung LEDs.

Here's the window so far:

Lots to add still but, this gives you a hint about how this will work. ☮

P.S. I get indirect light during the day FROM the window as well, with about 1 hour of direct light.

Nice. Well good luck! And about your original problem with humidity. I would get your light hung and see if that changes things in your window area, and I don’t know your location but by the time your growing here seasons may change and not be an issue at all…

neat job! 50-60rh is a pretty good place to keep things for weed plants.
