I am not looking to discuss defoliation as a general practice.
A method I have been using recently is to cut off pieces of leaf which get in the way of budding sites instead of the entire leaf. Anybody else doing it this way? Any thoughts on pros or cons for this method?
Welcome to RIU.org
Your onestopshop for all matters cannabis, take a look around but I should advise you that the fabulous "Like" button, is broken, instead buried below is the equivalent, reputation button that works almost the same., so if you see or read something you like, well! you can't 'like' until it's fixed, but you can click the Rep button to show your appreciation.

It is not the bud sites which need the light, it is the leaves.
What a useful post....
How about cutting off the fan leaves to allow more light to reach the lower growth of the plant, tried it and it worked and therefore created multiple tops which means more yield!
this goes directly against the square inverse law which states that light fades very quickly, and leaves that are only a foot below others, will therefore only receive 1/2 the light as the top leaves.. therefore by cutting off top leaves in an attempt to get light to lower leaves, you're literally cutting off your nose to despite your face, as those lower leaves, no matter what, will only ever receive .5 of the light as the same leaves 1 foot above them, naturally it only gets less and less the further from the light source you get..

good luck, probable not going to get any useful info about from rollitup as 70% are against this and 30% for it, this will end up in name calling and get shut down in a week or two after 2,000 posts are on here
has any defoliating thread ever ended peacefully?![]()
Exactly, endless threads saying the same exact thing, thats everyones point.yeh I have been reading though the endless threads and they never end peacefully and that is my point
