I tried it and my plant went into shock. I wouldnt do it unless the leaf is sick or dying. The plant produces them leaves for a reason, without them you lose on stored sugars.

LOL....yet another defoliating thread. I like Redcarpetmatches comment about pussy willows....as I look at other's grows that have yanked leaves off their plants and that's what they look like. I wonder if the poster that asked looked at someone's picture of a plant that was trimmed just before chopping.

2 or 3 days before harvest I cut off all fan leaves that do not contain any crystals and it also makes it easier for actual harvest day so u get only good trim n popcorn nugs

starting this thread opened a portal for the demon noobies...

defoliation = stunted growth , smaller yield, airy buds..

plenty of lush green leaves = big happy yield.

only pull leaves that are damaged

Any one who argues this is wrong and an idiot and needs to take botany and horticulture classes..

These kind of absolute statements are not helpful, pretty much invalid
kind of thing i would expect from a noobie that has just finished reading jorges bible or another Uncleben stooge
you should re-phrase them i think it is possible to save them with a few if's and maybe's in the right places

stick to those classes!

It's an absolute statement, but mostly accurate. Those leaves facilitate an important function in a plant. If you don't believe that then take a clone, and strip all of the leaves from it and continue doing so for it's entire life cycle. I'd guess that the results would be less than spectacular. I suppose at a certain point once the flowers have formed you'd be fine removing some leaves. I'd never advocate stripping a plant of all of it's leaves, though. That flies in the face of science.

pic 1 was half way through the process there are no original fans on it now

that's a bit silly imo.. the function of the leaves if to hang out in the sun, (lights) and collect light energy and convert it into sugar via photosynthesis..

naturally a budding plant will have sugar leaves, but which would be more efficient at making more food, a 20 acre plot of land, the fan leaves, or a 2 acre plot of land, the sugar leaves??
of course the bigger the leaf is, the more sugars and food it makes for the plants..
