Decarb buds smoked in vaporizer to use for hash, tincture…

My nephew, who’s in the cannabis industry , told me I could reuse bud smoked with the vape for edibles, etc. I had been tossing it after I “smoked “ it.

My question is: Do I need to decarb it before using?
