I wish someone would invent a pillow that stays cool, I have to keep turning my pillow over at night to get to the cold side.
And I can't sleep on pillows with plastic cotton shit inside at all.

to clear a few things up im in my mid 20s. i smoked from age 13 till 23. so thats why i dont rule out the harmful chemicals in cigs as helping me sleep...the entire time i was a smoker cigs were a sleep aide..like if i were in bed and couldnt sleep i would just go outside...smoke a cig...and boom id be out. so like i said. idk what cigs have to do with it (beyond the nicotine which i still get some)

so idk.

i feel ive built up a tolerance to the melatonin as it seems to be taking longer to fall asleep like its not as effective anymore. i take 3mg tablets by the way (1 tablet 30 mins before i intend on going to sleep). usually at the end of the 30 mins ill start yawning and realize its kicking in.

sometimes i cant sleep because of thoughts racing in my head...

but other times im actually tired and i WANT to go to sleep but i cant actually FALL ASLEEP.

last night i laid in bed for 2 hrs (2hr 30 min since taking the melatonin) trying to sleep b4 i did.

whats even worse is sometimes i dont feel tired at night when its "bedtime" but during the day ill be dragging ass cuz im finally sleepy...soon as night falls: boom. wide awake. (even if i dont "nap" during the day from being so deprived of sleep)

idk if its stress of the cigs but thats the only two things that have changed (and they changed at the same time) that im aware of in my life.

beyond melatonin idk what to do and i dont wanna start upping my dose on it because frankly i dont like "medicines" in the first place and im always hesitant to abuse the suggested dosage.

ive been pretty close to just running out and getting some OTC sleeping pills..i just really want to avoid them. i hear they shave off a considerable amount of ur life and after smoking for over a decade i really rather not risk shaving any more time off my life or become hooked on sleeping pills.

so basically the consensus is:
A) TAKE SLEEPING PILLS
or
B) SMOKE INDICA
??

if so im gonna have to hold out till i can plant some 100% indicas...its gonna be awhile since i just sent a sativa dom plant into flowering just a couple days ago and cant flower an indica until it finishes.

I leave my window open at night. Although, there has been a time or two that I've had to chip the ice off to get the window to close again. I love a cold room to sleep in. The colder the better.

Give it to your lady :hump: ... Cigs didn't help, they just gave you a "fake" sense of relaxation when really they can cause many sleepless nights. Read a book with just a small light on 30-60 mins before bed. Don't think about life problems in bed. Do all of your daytime relaxing out of bed. It'll help your body realize its time for bed and not time to flip on the tv. The bed is only for sex and sleep. Try different sleeping positions too. Maybe get yourself a new pillow? Maybe a fluffier blanket. No loud noises or bright lights before bed.

Im losing my mind...and body. slowly but surely.

All my life ive been able to put my head on the pillow and be asleep WITHIN (literally) 5mins w/o any meditating no counting sheep, no yoga no herbel sleepy teas, no sleeping pills, nothing.

NOW for the past year sleep has been my enemy. im not sure what keeps me from sleep. idk if its the fact I quit smoking cigarettes a year ago....or if its all the stress im under on a day to day basis or what but SOMETHING keeps me from sleep.

I thought it was cigarettes that put me to sleep so quick and i can say im at least sure its not nicotine keeping me awake as ive been still getting nicotine throughout the past year even though i dont smoke (alternative methods like gums, electronic cigarettes, etc.). its possible (i guess) that something ELSE in the cigs (one/some of the 4,000 chemicals found in cigs) is what put me to sleep every night w/ ease? if i ever had trouble sleeping id go smoke a cig and boom lights out. so idk.

it could be the stress but im not too sure on that cuz after a year of being in a stressful situation you'd think i'd adapt to it but idk.

and it can't be that im "just not tired" cuz thats not true. i work. go to school and have rigorous workouts 5 days a week (mild weightlifting, moderate cardio for a total of 45mins-1hr 5 days a wk)

i got to the point earlier in the year where i wasnt sleeping more than 2 hrs a night for 3-4 days straight. i was honestly ready to die i felt so crappy (my days begin @ 7a and i dont get much freetime till night so going 3-4 days w/o sleep is tough when you have lots of crap to get done. i tried "melatonin" (all natural stuff) and it was doing the trick but i think ive built up a tolerance to it as last night it took 2hrs longer than normal to fall asleep.

i really dont want sleeping pills (i hear they are really bad for you and shorten your life) but i also dont know how to fix this w/o venturing out and buying a pack of cigs and seeing if a cig before bed is the cure (hahah) or buying sleeping pills.

Can someone help me please? im begging and if this wasnt the internet you'd see me on the floor waiting to kiss someone's shoes.

Sincerely,
captain sleepless
Exercise, it will release endorphins and cannabinoids in your body which will not only increase your well-being, but it will wear you out and your body will want to rest. Try taking an all natural, no additives, no preservatives, gluten-free Melatonin. Make sure you turn off all electronics in your room when you sleep, your brain mistakes radiation for light waves, and therefore won't produce nearly enough melatonin as it should when you're sleeping. Eat healthy (try to only eat organic); fruits, vegetables, whey protein (hormone free, grass fed), omega-3 fish oil, water. Water is very underrated as far as health benefits are concerned, which is odd considering we mostly consist of water.

He already exercises. He needs to get a girl to fiddle with his junk. That works.

Or have some milk and cookies before bed.

Don't get sleeping pills, stick with the natural stuff! I went through horrible insomnia for a long time after some bad life events really took their toll on me. I am in a better place in my life & sleep like a baby most nights without taking a lot of chemicals. Meletonin is awesome but you do build tolerance.

I meditate daily & especially at night. It keeps me sane, calms me down & gives me clarity on the shit I need to work on in my life. There are some good meditation cds & even free apps you can use to guide you. Meditate in the same place in your home every time. I don't believe in hocus pocus but I do believe in energy & it gathers where you meditate. Breathe deeply. It is one of the most calming things we can do for ourselves.

Turn off electronics including your tv about an hour b4 bed. Read more at night, it calms us. Drink no more than 8 oz of red wine an evening, any more can interupt your sleep but a couple of glasses relaxes the mind & body. I also do yoga & it helps. I can't smoke weed too close to my bedtime, it has always made me hyper but when I eventually come down I am a log lol.

The mind racing thing is awful! But I think it's there to try & tell us something sometimes. Mine was worry & I gave it up because it changes nothing in your life, only sucks your energy & sanity. I try to let things go more, judge less but it is a struggle at times. I hope this helps!!!!
Good luck!!! Wishing you many zzzzzz's!

I bought a chillow off the net it's a pillow you fill with water and it stays cold all night, it's sounds uncomfortable but it's not its amazing for old ladies who have hot flushes! I also have the windows open all night I love the room to be cold so you can snuggle under the duvet. But! I also take two temazepam sleeping pills without these I would not sleep at all but I wouldn't advise taking them you are far to young and they are very addictive.

http://www.naturalhealth365.com/natural_healing/cold-showers.html

"Research has indicated that taking cold showers releases endorphins and improves circulation throughout the body – including the brain. The net effect of this is that cold showers have been shown to help individuals suffering with depression; insomnia; anxiety and mental lethargy. It also opens up the lungs and enhances respiration and the bodies’ oxygen intake and utilization."

Read. :)

i suck at sleep. some things that help me:

combine "sleeping pills" with a fairly boring nighttime routine. by sleeping pills i mean benadryl an hour before bed and melatonin right before bed. my boring routine consists of things like online bingo, solitaire, etc. i take the benadryl, play some bingo or puzzle games for a half hour until i notice that i'm starting to suck at it and not paying attention. that's when i know it's time for the melatonin. i take that and go lay in bed. if you can find a routine that does not involve bright screens (like reading a book) that's even better.

also, masturbation. if you have a lady then have some fun with her. either way it will help put you to sleep.

it should go without saying but avoid caffeine for a good 5 hours or so before bed. don't eat within 2 hours of bed if you can help it. make sure you go number 1 and 2. wondering if i have to pee keeps me awake.

i find that benadryl helps with the mind racing but doesn't actually make me tired. the melatonin will make me tired after i turn off the mind racing, but not always on its own. i refuse to try the prescription shit.

for me, weed (indica or otherwise) isn't really a guaranteed sleep. it often helps, but it's no magic bullet imo.
